I am cleaning DD7s room this week and will weed out the pile of legless Barbies (yes my tag IS true!) but most of the Barbies have icky hair from attempts by DD to BRUSH it... Is there ANY way to get Barbie hair back to somewhat normal or should I just chuck the ones with icky hair too?

After a long career of playing with Barbies, sadly, no- once it enters that matted tangly stage it never is quite the same. It always feels different and gets tangled easier from then on. And if you try to brush it out, Barbie will likely need a little Rogaine.

YES! IT can be done. I restore and repaint Barbies and have to deal with yucky hair all the time. First wash it with regular shampoo, make sure all the dirt and debris is out. Then, put a big glob of conditioner on it, let it soak for a few minutes to coat all the hair and then start at the end of the strands and comb out gently. Rinse well, air dry. Good Luck!

Great tip! I have the same problem all the time.

Try the Downey dunk. This is used for American girl dolls hair. Soak in unscented Downey and don't dilute for hours or better over night. See if that works.

Whatever you do DON'T put the doll in the dishwasher. Trust me - it doesn't work.

Thanks! Sounds like I need to plan a Barbie SALON day soon. :thumbsup2

I was never able to salvage Barbie hair. Or feet. I chewed my Barbie's feet into little mangled masses. My poor Barbies. They suffered a lot.

Good Luck!

I wish you had been around for me!!! I could NEVER get Barbie's hair back to normal. (I usually chopped it off and turned them into "Ken." :rotfl2: )

You are just too funny. What has this got to do with Barbie hair. You gave me my first good laugh of the morning. Thanks.
