Barbie and Ken do Disney Trip Report COMPLETED!!

Blayne- great start babe! I'm so happy to hear you had a safe trip. The plane always gets me nervous too during take off/landing. But you really have me hanging here.......more please!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for sharing your pre-trip report with us and the start of the actual trip report. I have spent a good amount of my day at work today reading through the 18 pages. I am hooked and anxiously awaiting more of the report. Hope to see more soon.

Hey guys! Before I post another installment I just wanted to say thanks for all the feedback - I cannot believe that everyone is actually reading and that people are saying they are hooked - i feel like a celebrity! I always am hooked to other peoples trip reports so its an honor! I promise that as I get going on this trip report I will respond to each of you individually because you guys are important but for now I will just say THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING! :)

An update on Todd. I was stressed out all day today because I had to go to school and couldn't contact him, HOWEVER when I got home today he told me that FedEx DID say he could stay on as a temp but they couldnt gaurentee him any hire positions or a lasting job and it just so happens that a company he had called yesterday off of Craiglist called him back to come in at that very moment he was told that my FedEx. He went in and they gave him the job right away! It was a dream come true. Now he is making MORE money, working LESS hours, is RIGHT DOWN THE STREET, gets BENEFITS, and has ROOM FOR ADVANCEMENT! We couldn't be happier. Its some kind of paper company - im not sure of the name, but it is about 4 minutes down the street and I couldn't be happier!! We arent going to be broke! Leave it to Todd to score a job in ONE DAY! :goodvibes: Thanks for all of your prayers - they really paid off!

Im off to write the next installment! :)

Hey everyone!

So yes. I am aware that I didn't even make it to check in! But I didn't want to bore anyone right off the bat and I figured it would really leave you wanting more! Did it work? Good - here goes!

Arrival Day continued -

We arrived at Pop Century and I was jumping up and down and screeching! Our vacation was HERE and about to start and I was SO EXCITED! We pulled in and right away I could see the bowling pins in the 50's building. When we pulled up I was just in awe. Pop Century is so cute. It is also bigger than any hotel I have ever seen in my life. We strolled into Pop Century (actually I think you could describe my walk as a SKIP - yes I SKIPPED into Pop Century) I love the lobby. Pop Century lobby is adorable - I loved looking in the shadow boxes with all the stuff from the different centuries. As we stood in the check in line, Todd and I STILL couldn't make up our minds. We had requested the closest available room, but I wasn't sure if I wanted 50's, 60's or 70's. By the time we got to the check in desk I had made my desicion - the 70's. However I didnt even need to tell them - because thats where they put us! I was very excited once again! I thought we would never find the room, but our room had to be the easiest room to get to. It probably took us less then 5 minutes to walk from Classic Hall to our room. We were right behind the Big Wheels and almost directly next to the elevator - it was a PERFECT spot! This was what we got to see everyday upon leaving our room - well leaving our room and taking a right! ;)

I loved the oversized things! Everything was too cute! I was too excited to actually explore the resort though. We did go to our room for a couple minutes though - just to investigate.
IMG_2357.jpg

I did take a bunch of pictures of every corner of the room, but I will not bore you guys with that considering as the room was not anything spectacular. Actually the beds at Pop Century are TINY! We weren't even sure we could handle it, but we managed. ANYWAYS - We spent about 10 minutes in our room before I decided that it was time to get this vacation STARTED! Before we left Pop we went down to explore the gift shop. Of course it wouldn't be a trip report if I didn't put up the obligatory "hat trying" pictures.

Its actually quite a dirty ritual if you ask me. I mean - I dont know about you guys, but my mother always told me not to try on hats like that - NO ONE WANTS LICE YOU KNOW! :rotfl: Well I tried them on anyways - so SUE ME! Fortunately I did NOT contract lice on this vacation, nor any other disgusting diseases! After the gift shop, we made our way outside to the bus stops. Now, this was my first introduction to Disney transportation and I have to say - WOW! What an easy system. It was so simple to get around all week. I couldn't believe it. One of the things I was so worried about was how I was going to get to all the events I had spent so much effort scheduling. I would give Disney transportation an A+! We boarded the Downtown Disney bus and made our way down there. I was glued to my window and fascinated with everything that past me by. (This didn't last all 11 days, believe me!) We got off at the Downtown Disney Marketplace and I was ready to enjoy my day!

IMG_2376.jpg

We were starving and decided that we would go to Earl of Sandwich before we did anything else! Earl of Sandwich was jammed because it was prime time for lunch. We waited in our first Disney line here! It was worth it believe me! (I will be doing a Dining Report so I don't plan on including pictures in here - unless you all want me to include the dining report in here and if thats the case just let me know - other then that I will just tell you what we ate etc.) I got the Caprese Sandwich - it had mozzarella, tomato, basil and olive oil and I got a cupcake. Todd got the Hawaiian BBQ. My sandwich was AMAZING! I wish I had it now. I would definitely recommend everyone go there for lunch. Yummy! - Todd loved it too! After that we started at the very beginning of the Marketplace and went in every store. We started with Disneys Wonderful World of Memories which I thought was a disappointment. I scrapbook and was looking forward to this place, but it didn't have anything special in it. I did enjoy the photo op though -
IMG_2379.jpg

My favorite store of the whole trip turned out to be the Art of Disney store. It was amazing. I could have spent ours looking at everything. Todd thought it was very cool too. Wow I wish I could have bought something in there - I was very impressed with it. After we went to the Christmas store. I really wanted to get an engraved Disney ornament - but I guess they dont do that there. I didn't end up buying anything. I loved this little Pooh spot to take pictures -
IMG_2380.jpg

We went to the $10 or less store and while I was browsing, there was a flash flood rain storm. I was prepared with my dollar store ponchos and pulled one out to put on. I was bummed though that it was raining on our first day. We hid inside as long as we could and then made our way to Once Upon a Toy.
IMG_2383.jpg

Im aware that this poncho is NOT doing me justice - believe me~! :rotfl:
This store was awesome! I FINALLY bought my Mr. Potato Head stuff. I bough tthe actual potato head separate and then a whole box of pieces. I got my Cruella De Vil outfit (shes my favorite). I promised I would go back and get a second box of stuff, but we never made it back this trip. After that it was raining even harder and Downtown Disney had pretty much completely cleared out. There was honestly no one around! We sprinted over to Basin - another great store! We spent a lot of time in here smelling everything and I did buy some very nice slabs of handmade soaps. The Crystal Shop was next, everything in there was beautiful. We made our way through the other connecting stores and then got fed up with waiting so we sprinted in the rain to the Lego Store. I wasn't impressed with this place as I don't play with Legos, I do wish I had gotten pictures of the awesome Lego creations though. It was raining to hard :sad2: Next we made our way over to the World of Disney. WOW! That place is intimidating. You could get lost in there! We bought a few things in there - I took some pictures, but they didn't come out to well. We spent a pretty long time in there trying to wait out the rain, but it didn't work! After, we sprinted all the way to Planet Hollywood and ended up getting in an hour earlier than our reservation for dinner. The atmosphere in this place is amazing. Todd and I had a great time and spent the whole time basically staring at everything. I was in a little bit of a tizzy because my hair was a frizzy mess, but besides that everything was great. I don't understand why people give Planet Hollywood bad ratings. All my food was delicious and our service was top notch. I would definitely go back there!
IMG_2402.jpg

By the time we got out of dinner, the rain had stopped. We walked down to the West Side and went to DisneyQuest.
IMG_2407.jpg

I just cannot explain how much fun DisneyQuest is! Todd loved it and so did I. We had a blast! We checked our shopping bags and headed to the Virtual Jungle Cruise. This was so much fun! Hard work, but fun! After we tried out the Pirates ride.. that was even more fun! The family we were with were very friendly and we won. Cyberspace Mountain was our next stop. We will never to that again. We did a Level 4 and were so sick afterward. It completely rotates upside down, backwards, sidewards. It was way to intense. Me and Todd vowed never to do it EVER. Blahhhh! We played some games for a bit - you have to love a place where the games are unlimited and FREE considering as we had a free upgraded ticket and never had to pay admission to get into DisneyQuest. The last thing we did was the Buzz Lightyear bumper car ride. That was fun, but we were exhausted and really needed some rest. We left after that and were too tired to even enjoy the sights and sounds of Downtown Disney at night. We had been up for almost 24 hours at this point! We found our way to the bus and stumbled on. When we got back to the room, we crashed. I set our wake up call and we were dead to the world in 10 minutes. Our first day at Disney was over. Valentine's Day would begin with a wake up call from Stitch! :cloud9:

I am loving your trip report. Keep it coming!! I like looking at all of your pictures .. it looks like you guys are having so much fun. I'm glad everything worked out with Todd's job.

The first thing I want to say is: You guys are SOOOOOO adorable!!! You look so happy together! I just knew Todd would either get it all straightened out with FedEx or get another job! More money, close to home & benefits - Wow! I couldn't be happier for you both!

Sorry it rained on your first day in WDW, but you gotta be prepared for that in Florida. And you were! You really did your homework before you left. Ponchos ready to go. :thumbsup2 The Art of Disney store is cool, isn't it??? I just stood there, watching the artist's bio videos on the TV monitor, with my mouth hanging open. Did you get to the Art of Disney store in MGM, too? You're doing a great job on your TR so far!

I can't wait to read more!
