Bar Hopping on the Boardwalk

We love the bar at Blue Zoo. Great atmosphere, great food. :thumbsup2

I also dislike DTD, lol!

Blue Zoo also has happy hour food specials if you sit in the bar area. That might be a good place to start and make sure you have some food in you.

I always forget the name of the place next to YS- Crew's Cup maybe, but they have decent food choices too.

bluezoo is definitely a stop. :thumbsup2 It's our favorite WDW restaurant. (We haven't tried V&A yet, but have tried most of the others.) I didn't know about the Happy Hour. It's definitely something to consider. I'm thinking we'll start with Crew's Cup & end at Kimonos. Our DS loves karaoke. Now that I know about Happy Hour, bluezoo will probably be our first stop at S/D. We're thinking we'll pass on the Boardwalk locations altogether, & start at Yacht Club. Is there any place at Boardwalk we must hit? I was thinking ESPN Club, but it seems the other locations would be more special. We've been to ESPN a few times, but we weren't drinking. Our DS & his GF like the idea of getting dressed up & making it a more adult evening, even though she can't drink. That leaves the Bellevue Lounge. Is it worth a visit?

I think Belle Vue is cute, but it has one of the more limited bars on property. It's nice for a drink in the late afternoon/early evening when it's not busy. I like to sit at the table near the wall when you walk in and listen to the loop that plays on the replica radio. It plays old-time serials and variety shows.

If you get good weather, consider stopping at the Cabana Bar and Beach Club at the Dolphin. The poolside ambiance is SO nice! And they have very good food too.

Thanks for the info. In that case, we'll probably skip Belle Vue. We wouldn't be able to get a drink at all of the bars & still be walking. We want to choose the best options for both food & drinks.

We'll keep that in mind, thanks. Unfortunately , it looks like the weather will be in the 60s. That's cold to us wimpy Floridians.

My DH is now saying DTD will be more fun for a 21 yr. old. :headache: I think the food would be much better at the Boardwalk. Plus, DTD restaurant bars may be packed on a Saturday evening/night. We may have to leave it up to the birthday boy or flip a coin. Do you all think the Boardwalk area or DTD would be the best choice?

Hi! Have you ever listened to the Dis Unplugged Podcast? (If you haven't, you should. It's the highlight of my week). They recently began a "Drinks Around the World" segment. They've released two and will likely be releasing more.

The first one was on September 5th, 2012 and highlights some of the best places to drink in the monorail resorts. You can find this episode in itunes or by clicking here .

The second aired December 5, 2012 and it features Downtown Disney drinks. You can find this epsode in itunes or by clicking here.

You may want to listen to these to get an idea of what's available. They're really fun, too :cool1: If you check out the guys' instagrams, facebooks, and twitters you can also find pictures (you'll have to look back).

The show notes for those podcasts are here

ETA: I'm pretty sure they talked about the food options, as well.

My wife and I actually participated in the first of those events. We were with Corey & Julie (and a bunch of others) on the Drink around the Monorail segment. We did try food items at some of the stops (Mizners and Top of the World) but it wasn't the main focus of the activity. We were trying things that were unique to, or at least most in keeping with, the overall theme of the resort.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Jellyrolls! I could make an entire night out of that! My husband and his friend really enjoyed the beer at Big River Brewing (they got the sampler). ESPN isn't bad either. I've never been to the other bars though.

Bluezoo, at the Dolphin, you can sit at the bar. The drinks are good and the appetizers even better, you need something to soak up the alcohol! Favorites: Shellfish platter (shrimp, lobster ceviche,...) The tuna tartare, the fois gras, who needs dinner!

Kimono's at the Swan if you like sushi!

Crews Cup at the Yacht club, good drinks, lobster sliders and a great cheeseburger.

If he's wants an intro to different beers, nothing wrong with Big River Grill, they have several light and darks. Grab a table outside, add a some beef nacho's and with the beer and the view, it's a nice time!

and if you enjoy wine, we've enjoyed Kouzzinas, there are a few wine flights both Californian and Greek, it's a good way to be introduced to wine. Add an appetizer platter w/ garlic shrimp, hummus, pita, olives, lamb meatballs and the baked goat cheese!

Wow, we love cocktails and appetizers, pick one or two and then you don't really need dinner, just dessert, maybe!
