Has anyone had any trouble getting their Banshee through security at the airport? Someone told me they had theirs "confiscated" at MCO because they wouldn't permit the poor guy in carry-on luggage ...

My niece really wants to get one on her trip, but it will break her heart if they made her leave him behind.

Thanks for any info!

There would be a lot more stories about it happening if there were a real issue.
That's what I was thinking too, but she's 10 yo and a little nervous. I told her I would check for her!

I carried mine on. As long as your airline permits csrry-one or you've paid for a carry on you should be fine.

I wouldn't think so. MCO is very used to seeing people with Disney merchandise coming through there. Every other passenger seems to have one or two Disney Parks shopping bags. They may give it a little extra scrutiny if they can't tell what it is on the x-ray, but it won't be a problem.

I had my Trader Sam's tiki mugs looked at because the screener singled them out. The agent who checked my bag said the screener was new to the airport and wasn't used to it, but since she said they had to be checked, the agent had to check them. It was all handled in a very friendly and professional manner, and I went on my way after a couple of minutes.

I'm not familiar with this toy. What about it would cause issues with security?

The boxes they come in are huge with lots of packaging. I would get toward end of trip and have it mailed home to avoid the hassle.

Thank you! I didn't really think there would be a problem except that someone had told me their tale of woe. I agree that MCO must see A LOT of interesting items!pixiedust:

That is a good idea ... let's see if we can get her to part with it long enough! :goodvibes

We flew home with banshees on two separate occasions with no issues - both times they were in the original boxes.
I have also seen dozens going through security each time we have flown out of MCO (probably a dozen times this year - not all vacation :) )

Each time we put them in the overhead so we could put our backpacks under the seat for easy access during the flight.

What airline allows you to have two carry-ons?

The airlines I've flown on had pretty strict restrictions on what was considered a personal item - a backpack would have counted as the carry-on, and the other item would have to have been smaller? I've seen them turn people away at the gate and have them pay to check a large item when they've had a backpack. They have those shapes you have to fit your bag into.

I would suggest having it shipped back home. Pop Century helped with this & it was about $10. Well worth it so it didn’t need to be packed or lugged through the airport.

If it fits under the seat, it's considered a personal item.

From Southwest:

Your personal item must be stored under
the seat in front of you, fitting within
18.5 x 8.5 x 13.5 inch dimensions.

Thank you everyone for sharing your successful Banshee travels! My niece is very excited princess:
(Although I think we might try to talk her into letting us mail it home, just to make it easier for us!):smickey:
