Banks and Creditors?

Flame suit on.....they could afford to live there but not afford to insure it? That is a downright shame since most of us homeowner policy payers will be footing the bill for those that were too cheap or lazy to insure their house. So, because of them our policies will increase?

Mortgage companies insist that if they own part of the house, you must have insurance. Insurance is incident specific, however, and many policies do not cover flooding or acts of God.

Use shelters (they are free) and partake of the meals served there.

Consider filing for bankruptcy if anticipated income and finances don't seem to overcome the uninsured losses.

Ask banks and credit card companies and finance companies to forgive late fees and finance charges.

Expect banks and credit card companies to make good on fraudulent withdrawals and transactions that were not reported within deadlines due to lack of communications.

One other thing to consider--if you do'nt show proof of insurance to teh mortgage company, they will go out and buy a policy (often at atrocious rates!) and charge it back to you. So there's a slight possibility that some people who might have let their policy lapse actually are covered by a policy that their mtg co bought on their behalf.
