I just called MS and asked to bank my remaining points for the year(UY Feb).
I transfered in 166 points this year and had 10 from last year and 150 this year reg. points. When I made my reservations using 210 points I was not asked how I wanted to split my points other than using my 10 banked points first. Now when I called, MS said I could only bank 80 as the other 36 points remaining in my account were tranfered in points. I told the person I was talking to I could bank all (116) points remaining. She put me on hold. When she came back, she did say I could bank all of them but she would have to manually bank the remaining (36) transfered points. She gave me a banking # for my 80 home points and said I would have to call back tomorrow to get the banking number of the transfered 36 points that she would have to do manually. I had never heard of manually banking points and I wondered why the person reserving my villa when I made my reservation orginally did not use all the points in one of (in search for a better word) accounts then tap in to the other so only 1 block of points was left. I hope she(cm) knows what she is doing. Has anyone else experienced this?
 
Manual banking is not uncommon when dealing with transferred points. The current reservation system is not set up to handle transferred points very well. MS often has to do "work arounds" to accomplish some of the things for transferred points that the computer can handle just fine for "normal" points. In my experience, manual work arounds are needed when the transferred points are of a different use year or home resort than the account receiving them.

FWIW, I always ask for a points status after each transaction MS does for me. This would be a good habit for you to begin. As you now know, the CMs do not always do what you think they should. It's best for the member to specify which points to use if there are any choices involved. It is a lot easier to "fix" any misunderstandings when they occur.

That happened to me when a friend transferred points into my account. She has an August use year, I have April. Our trip was in April 04, this was at the 7 month mark in September 03. I argued that the points did not need to be banked because they were August 03. They told me they became April 03 when they hit my account and had to be banked for April 04. The problem was we were right on the 7 month mark and were trying to get a BWV standard view. It would take overnight to bank them. Luckily they were available the next day and I made the reservation.

CarolMN - you were right everything is done today. I agree with you about asking the points status as I did this on every occassion I spoke to MS. I guess I didn't realize they would take some from one block of points and some from the other. Next time I will be wiser. Thanks!

DebbieB - I too had that promblem but it didn't effect my 7 month window as both set of points were BCV. Thanks!
