Hi All,

We are new members (got our Club ID's yesterday) and with the tranferring policy now being strickly enforced, had a question.

We have a June UY and are going to bank all of our 2006 points so that we can use them in 2007. However, even doing so, for the trip we want to take we will need 34 more points for 2007. Should/could we A) Get points transferred into our 2006 UY and bank for 2007 B) Get points transferred into our 2007 UY for use in that year?

Regs,

CJM

Sure you can, but why not just borrow them from your 2008 use year?

We plan on buying an add-on of 50 more points on our trip 'home' in 07, however we have both 2008 and 2009 vacations planned and they will use all points. I'm a project manager by trade and I can't help it lol ;)

PS - We are in a Canadian province that we cannot purchase DVC from home.

Regs,

CJM

Either method should work for you. You might still consider just borrowing from 2008 and then make that add-on a little larger! ;)

I'd borrow unless you get the chance to get cheap points transferred in that will work for you. In general, using points now and worrying about future trips when the time presents is the best strategy. One can always buy a larger chunk in the future to be transferred in, pay cash for part or all of a trip, do weekends on cash and save the points or any one of a number of variations to stretch points now or in the future. Renting points at full value to keep from borrowing is almost always a poor approach.

I'd always thought this was the best strategy and the one I'm using myself at the moment. However, it's reassuring to know that an 'expert' agrees :thumbsup2
