Banking Question

If you book a vacation date after your points drop for next year, the points for that vacation come off of next year's points. My question is: If you bank points then make a reservation after your points drop for the next year, does your visit come off of the banked points or next year's allotment?

I'm not yet a member so I don't have any real-world experience with this, but my understanding is that you can make a reservation with whatever points you have available (subject to 11/7 month booking windows). Of course, if you have not yet banked the points at the time of the reservation, you can only use the points for the appropriate use year. Member Services would probably automatically use banked points before current points, but you can always work with them and verify what points they are assigning to your reservation.

When you make a reservation, the policy followed by MS is to use any bank or borrowed points first and then use points from the use year in which the applicable trip takes place, although you should make sure that is done when making the ressie.

So could I bank points cancel my reservartion and then rebook the reservation to use banked points?

Just bank the points and have MS reallocate them for the existing reservation. They can easily do it for you.
