We bought a small addon at VWL and made ressies in a studio for Dec. 26- Jan. 2. This ressie used 03 banked points, 04 points and some borrowed points from 05. We may have to cancel these ressies now so I have a few questions...UY is Dec by the way...

1. What will happen to the 03 banked points? Are they still banked and usable until the end of 04 UY?

2. Can the borrowed points be returned to their original UY if the ressie is canceled?
Thanks!

Yes

NO. Once points are borrowed, they stay borrowed.

Sorry to hear you have to cancel... that always sucks.

As a Dec UY owner, I find it a tricky UY to have, since the year of the points are really current the year after the points assigned UY(so Dec 2004 points are valid Dec1 2004- Nov 30 2005, mostly in the 2005 calender year.)

Soooooooo the 2003 banked points are good until Nov 30 2004, current points are good until Nov 30 2005 (and still could be banked for use thru 2006) and the borrowed points are good util Nov 30, 2005 and can NOT be banked. (or transfered)

At least I think that is right. I tried to log into DVCMEMBER.COM and I cant get in.................... But the great thing about the DIS is...... If I am wrong, several people will have the correct answer.

Once again, sorry to hear you have to cancel the trip.

BTW what is the silly pool??? :teeth:

Thanks for the quick reply! Not sure if we have to cancel yet or not, my husband will hopefully be starting a new job soon and we have ressies at VWL in Dec and SSR for March (my parents first trip). We're guessing he probably can't get off of work that close together with a new job. I've been contemplating bringing my sister in place of him that way the kids and I could still go but I feel bad because he's been dying to stay at VWL for a while.
Tag Fairy got me when I posted a question about the pool at SSR a long time ago:)

Laurabearz is correct. To add a little to the explanation:

The 100% banking deadline for a December use year is the following May 31, the 50% dealine is the end of the following August and the 25% deadline is the end of the following September. No banking is allowed in October of November.

If the OP used points banked from her 2003 use year (12/1/2003 - 11/30/2004), yes, they would expire on 11/30/2005 (the end of the 2004 use year).

Since the reservations are in her 2004 use year, 2004 points are considered current year points for the purpose of a December, 2004 reservation. The 2004 use year runs from 12/1/2004 -11/30/2005. If this reservation is cancelled, the OP could bank up to 100% of her annual allotment as long as it was done prior to May 31, 2005. (Shouldn't be a problem)!

The points that were borrowed into the 2004 use year for this reservation will expire on 11/30/2005 unless used. Borrowing is a final transaction.

HTH - December use years are tricky - it's so easy to confuse use year with calendar year. Best to make yourself a chart and work through each case before you call MS.

Best wishes -
