Banking point question....please help.

Yes I have asked a million questions over the past 3 days and you all have been very helpful and for that, I thank you. I am a newbie and have not yet recieved my member packet. I just signed up Saturday but I'm staying at SSR in 2 weeks.

Anyway, I am using 108 points of the 150 I was issued when I bought in. I am getting 150 more in September. I will probably not go back between this trip in March and Sept. Should I go ahead and bank the 42 points? What if I decide in June to take a last minute July getaway? Will I simply borrow the points I banked with no penalty? I have read something about holding days or something like that and a time frame for banking before losing. NONE OF THIS WAS EXPLAINED TO ME WHEN I BOUGHT IN!!! Anyway any advise and explanation of banking/holding would be great. Thanks-Brad

I would bank the points. If you do decide to go in June or July you can borrow from the next UY. Remember though you can not borrow banked points. So those 42 points you banked from 05 to the 06 UY must be used by the end of 06. They can be used for your trip after September or can be rented. The holding account is when you cancel a reservation 30 days or less prior to departure. These points now go into holding and must be used by UY end. There are great and more experienced members here that are pro's at this stuff....I'm sure they will chime in...

thanks brownie. sounds like the safest bet is to bank them. can i rent them after they have been banked- just wandering but probably wouldn't do it. i can see already this 11-7 month planning is going to be a serious problem for me. i am more of a spur of the moment guy. example- last week we decided to go to disney world for spring break-so i bought ssr and we are off to disney in 11 days. this system may cramp my style.

Apparently you are a lot like me. We travel by the seat of our pants. The 11 and 7 month window really don't work for me. But I did book a November trip at athe BWV..Out of the 9 days the kids miss only 3 days of school. So we booked now because of the food and wine fest. Also we decided friday to go for spring break as well. We leave thursday the 9th - VWL. Have fun...Forgot to answer your question...yes you can rent them after you bank them, but in that UY..so 05 banked points can be rented in the 06UY.

With a 150 point contract and September UY, 42 points falls in the 50% banking window, so you don't have to bank anything until the end of May. You have up till May 31 to bank all 42 points.

If in June you decide you want to go before September, just borrow some of your regular Sep 2006 points. You cannot 'borrow back' the banked points.

After Sep 2006, use the 42 banked points for your next reservation, then add any regular Sep 2006 points needed to complete that reservation request.
