Banking/Holding Question

I'm getting tied up in my own head! I have 255 points to bank in November. I see a week with a one bedroom that I'd like to booki n May 2026. If I reserve that, and not bank the points required, will they go into holding if I need to cancel the reservation? I believe they do, but want confirmation.

The only time points go into holding would be if you were to cancel the reservation 30 days or less. So if you cancel 31 days or more you are safe.

The other question though would you still be able to bank the points?

You mentioned 255 to bank in November.

Is that because you have an April use year and that is when your banking deadline is?

If so a trip in May 2026 would use any banked points from April of 2025, Allocated points from 2026 and any points that you need to borrow from April 2027.

With an April use year, you can bank the April 2025 points now needed for a May 2026 reservation and make a home resort reservation using those banked points now for that May 2026 trip.

If your May 2026 trip is for a resort that is not your home resort, you cannot make the reservation until October 2025 at 7-months out from arrival date. For that reservation,you can bank the points you want to use now or any time between now and 7-months before desired arrival date in May 2026 and then use them to make that May reservation at 7-months out.

If you do not use those April 2025 points for any reservation, the will never go into holding because points never go into holding except when they come out of a canceled reservation (or modified reservation using fewer points) 30 days or fewer from the designated arrival date of the reservation being canceled or modified. However, if you fail to bank those points by end of November 2025 they will be usable only for a reservation that ends before April 1, 2025.
