Banking & Booking at Disneyland

Today is my last day to be able to book my full points (September Use year). I may not be quite awake this morning, & I need some guidance to make sure I don't mess this up.

I have 270 points. I currently have a ressie for Christmas 2006 which will use 303 points. So, 33 of my 2005 points were banked when I made that ressie.

That leaves me with 237 points. I want to possibly use 144 of those at GCH at Disneyland in June. I don't know my dates, but I do know 4 nights are good and that June would be our travel month.

According to my sleepy brain, I need to call today and book 93 points (2005). I should also ask MS to reallocate my points used in the Christmas ressie to use those 93 points, right? What if something happens & I later decide to not use the 144 points at GCH? What are the booking/cancellation rules for using points outside of WDW? I looked at the Disney online booking website & cash for a standard view room for 4 nights in June would be a little over $1700, so using my points seem like a good deal. I calculated points using Themepark view, so if that room category was not available, that would leave me with a few spare points. Could I still bank those?

Thanks for your help - I'm obviously a newbie. I know I could look all of this up, but we've been moving my dh's office this week & I'm pooped & a little brain-dead right now!

I may not be following everything you are asking, but I would go ahead and bank any points from your 2005 UY that you won't need for a trip before August 31, 2006. If you later wish to make a reservation for a date between now and the end of August, you can still borrow from your 2006 allotment.

If you do use some points for a trip to DL and later cancel, those points will become Reservation Points and could no longer be used at a DVC resort - they could only be used for a non-DVC option. They could not be banked and would expire at the end of August if not used - so I'd be sure I will use the reservation before making it at all.

Thanks, Doc. You have given me the answer to my (convoluted) question. It was the Reservation Points policy that I needed info on - I will hold off on making that ressie until our plans are firm. Since I could borrow next year's point for that, I will go ahead and bank what remains of 2005 just in case.
