Banking and borrowing for Cruise ?

Hypothetical ?. If I had 200 points coming up on March 1, 2005 and I banked them and borrowed 200 from next year, I am assuming I could book a cruise for June 2006 on or after March 1st, 2005, using all 400 points. Correct, or would I have to wait until March, 2006?

Second ?. Assuming the June 2006 cruise, could I then borrow the 2007 points on March 1, 2006 to add on 2 kids to the same room? This is assuming the 200 points would cover the room. That would be using 600 points for a June, 2006 cruise.

If I have to wait until March, 2006 to book a June, 2006 cruise, will there be any rooms left??

I believe you can only book a cruise 11 months ahead. So for June 2006, you would book in July 2005. Your trip would be in your 2006 use year, so you could use banked 2005, current 2006, borrowed 2007. You could do all that at the time of reservation in July 2005, you don't have to wait for your use year to come up. Keep in mind that once points are taken out of DVC, they cannot be brought back. If you change your mind, they would all have to be used in your 2006 use year and not at a DVC resort.

Non-DVC options may be reserved 11 months ahead. For a June, 2006 cruise, the reservation may be made in July, 2005. You can bank your March05 points anytime after March 1 and then, in July (11 months from the cruise date) you would have the use of 05 and 06 points (400) and could also borrow your March07 (200) points to have as many as 600 points to use for that cruise.

I'm looking at a current sales brochure for DVC. It lists the 2004 schedule for the cruises, but not 2005. It does list the 2005 DVC Resort points chart, however. For the cruises, there are 4 grids (3, 4 & 7-day) with multiple listings in each - it would take forever to list them all in a readable fashion.

Just want to make sure you don't have a typo -- if cancel CANNOT use the points at a DVC resort? If so, ouch if plans change and can't go on cruise!

Can you rent/transfer those points?
