Banking after canceling?

Please help! I should know this by now .... but I need to be sure!

Ok ... I now have a reservation at BCV for early Dec. In Aug., I would like to try and move to VGF. I have enough points to hold on to my BCV while trying to book VGF.

So my morning in Aug. rolls around and I jump online and lo and behold the VGF is available! I book it and then cancel BCV. Since my reservation is in 2013, the points go back into my 2013 use year, right? And since I have an Aug. use year, I have to use them by July 31, 2014, right?

My big question is ... can I bank the points from the canceled reservation?

The fact that the points were used on a reservation has no bearing. They go back to the UY that they came from. If they were not banked or borrowed points you can bank them as long as you are in your 8 month banking window. They will expire if not used just like any other points in that same UY.
