banked points and renting

We have a trip planned for September and so we banked our 2005 points (UY Sept.)
However, since I banked them we decided to rent points out instead and stay at a resort and do the free dining.

Now I know to some its not a good deal, but we ran numbers and it works great for us.

Anyways, I want to rent points to offset the cash part of the vacation but I assume I cannot rent the banked points unless its for dates after September, right? But I can rent my upcoming 2006 points for dates now by borrowing. Is that right?
I'm sorry if I didn't explain it all well, I've been having some cognitive problems lately.

Yes, the banked points may only be used for reservations for stays between September 1, 2006 and August 31, 2007. If you want to make a reservation for a date prior to September 1, 2006 you would need to borrow.

I'd be really careful about borrowing for a renter. If you make the reservation and don't get your money, the points will need to be used by AUgust 31, 2006 - even though they are (were) 2006 UY points. Once borrowed, the points will remain in the current Use Year.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'd be better off than using the points for ressies after Sept,1 2006. Probably with F&W, Halloween and Christmas it shouldn't be too difficult.

The banked points cannot be transferred and you cannot borrow points to transfer - but you can transfer your 2006 points into another member's 2006 UY. The banked points can ONLY be used to actually make a reservation and you can ONLY borrow point to make a reservation.

I agree with Doc, I would not bank or borrow points for a renter without payment in hand and a non refund agreement.

That's the only way I would do it! I'm thinking 50% down for ressie, 50% after confirmed. Non-refundable.
