Banked my Leftover UY Points Too Early

MS made me do itnot! CM suggested it when i made my last reservation a few months ago. I figured, why not be ahead of the game & get it done for the UY?

Now, the mr wants to try to catch space shuttle launch that we've managed to miss for years. Guess i need to take a gander @ the CRO deals for end of July.

Im feeling rather dopey @ this point. Anybody else ever find themselves in same situation?

You could always borrow from next year's points for that ressie

i have yet to borrow any points for a reservation, didn't even think of it might even transfer some in, thanx for the suggestion.

I did it a couple of years ago. I banked my remaining April 2008 points in June when I made a reservation for May 2009. Then in September I decided I wanted to go to Disneyland in early December. So I borrowed 2009 points.

I would contact MS and ask nicely if they would let you unbank points that you have already banked. I was allowed to do this when I banked small number of points that I then needed after the first reallocation. They were very accommodating. It's worth a try. Good luck!

We've had to do that several times, and while it is a little confusing, it gets rectified easily when you get to the next use year. I seem to be doing that "too early banking" thing often.

Me too, but in my case I know why. Because I'm always afraid I'm going to forget to bank them!

And at least I'm not alone in the not borrowing. Dh has this aversion to ever borrowing points. Honestly, I confess here that I've borrowed a few times. But Shhhh!Please don't tell my DH. Fortunately he lets me handle the DVC points, so he doesn't know when we get to a UY why it is that we have fewer points available than our full alottment.

MS seems to be really banking happy. I called a month or so ago and I have some 09 points from a recent add on that I am not sure if we will be using yet. The CM was really on me to bank those points. He acted like if I didn't do it then I would lose them. I have until July to bank them. He had to have asked me 10 times and even said I only had until July and that I should do it today because time was running out.

me too, but realizing #3 DS was heading to college in fall of '11 cured it real quick

It is very rare that I borrow points, I did it once for a special reservation for a trip with friends, and I did it once after I had banked the points like the OP.

Oh man, this sounds exactly like the conversation I had with MS a couple of weeks ago while making a reservation for December. Right down to the time is running out part. My banking window closes in July too - and I'm sorry, if it were June I would understand that sentiment, but in latter part of March (when I was on the phone).

I did this...but I did have a valid reason, and everything was fine until we started thinking about adding another trip before our current UY is over. I can't make the reservation until I am 100% we are going, because otherwise what am I going to do with these borrowed points? Plus, I don't want to get into a borrowing pattern, because an add on is no where in our future.

Yes, but you have to wonder how many members call after the banking window, and want to bank points with..."It's Member Services' fault, they didn't tell me to bank when I called for my last reservation."
