Is there handles to hold onto? we are thinking about doing this but my DS is small for his age and I was wondering, if my DH can sit behind him and hold on to him....can somebody who has done this share their experience?? (Verandahman???)

Hi I've been on a banana boat ride in the greek isles and although there are handles it does get pretty bumpy and you sometimes fall off, you have on life vests and the driver will come back for you , we took our DS 8 on and he was fine.
Hope this helps:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy:

As you can see by this photo there are straps to hold on to. But, you will have to hold on to the straps very tightly, because you get bounced around quite a bit.

Thanks for the picture, Andy. Can two people fit on one of the seats (my DH and DS)?

From what I've seen, it's one person per seat.

The Disney Excursion booklet reads: Guests must be 8 years and older and be able to swim. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

How do you know Andy?
Weren't you fumbling, looking for your glasses during the whole trip? :)

Cheers,
Grumbo

No, I lost my glasses on the way back to shore after the half way turn around spot. Up until then, I could see fairly well!!! LOL!!!

We did this when my DD was just turned 10. As I recall, she weighed about 60 pounds at the time. I sat in the seat behind her (the very last seat). Each person has to be in their own seat. She held on fine, but was a little freaked out. There was a girl about her age on the same boat, and once DD saw that the other girl was having fun, she settled down and had fun too.

Couple of tips though. Wear goggles. That salt spray gets into your eyes and burns (that was the biggest thing DD was upset about). And wear shorts (or something that covers your inner thighs. There's usually sand on the banana thing, and bouncing up and down with your thigh rubbing the sandy rubber skin of the boat, it will cause a rash!

It was lots of fun though!
