Baltimore BOT-Fest

So Colleen, what's the new name of the thread going to be? "UnableToMeetUpBotsThatDon'tRun"?

What ARE we going to do next year???? Something on the east coast, please. A smaller marathon would be good.

:rotfl:Yes, I guess we do have to think of a new name. As for me, I was dumb enough to drop another $30 into MCM to defer until next year, so I think this will be my 4th attempt at trying to run it.:rolleyes1 I probably won't run it, too much pain. boo hoo

Chester - Yeah, what about those amoebas? Guess I'll have to wear a wetsuit & a nose plug. I'm planning to get a room @ DVC Wilderness Lodge & if I could borrow your bike I would really, really appreciate it. :woohoo:  I suck @ riding, but promise not to crash it or anything.

What about the rest of you? No one want to join me for a tri in May @ the World? popcorn::

Jodi
My bike is reserved just for you. We'll just have to meet up at our camper on Saturday so you can get the bike and set it up in the transition area.

How about the Amica Marathon in Newport, RI about the second weekend of October?

What's in Hartford, Jodi? I've been looking the ING Half up there but they've got to have a Full. :confused3

I believe the triathlon is on May 8th...Mother's Day? What were people riding last year....like rental bikes? If I could use your bike (or anyone you know) I would be completely in your debt. However, will you be in "the World" that weekend? I don't want you making a special trip. I can always go to Target & get a $70 bike then donate it afterward...it's not like I'm riding fast anyway...I suck @ bike riding :rotfl2: BTW, they say the tri is @ Ft. Wilderness...does that mean the swim part is in the lake with the alligators in it? :headache:

:tiptoe: sneaking in...

Jodi - I've done Danskin 4 times, and am signed up again for May. They have always had bike rentals available from David's World Cycle. They bring the bikes to registration, fit them to you, check the tires, and take them back at the finish. Danskin should post the info when they update the site. Like Chester said, there are bikes of all kinds at the race. The course does have 4 overpasses, so I don't recommend the beach cruisers, but it has been done. I have a hybrid - works fine, just slow. We do swim in the lake, but the elites go first, and the mixed waves go last. I figure the gators will either get the first ones or the last ones, so just stay somewhere in the middle. ;) And I try really hard not to think about the amoebas... :rolleyes1

Colleen - Bill is doing the full at Disney, and I'm hanging with the boys and scream-teaming as much as I can with them. We would LOVE to see you!!! :goodvibes

I could see that one coming a mile away. A rule of thumb, never make a decision about running within 48 hours of finishing a marathon.

Mike - So true. As I was driving in Philly yesterday I rode down Delaware Ave (Miles 4 - 5) and my mind starting thinking..."why not?". 2 reasons I may not: 1) family may disown me; 2) my body isn't healed up. We'll see.

Good Morning, BOTS

We're a quiet bunch lately....

Chester - Thanks so much for reserving your bike for me...does the seat go down or do I have to stand up & pedal? :lmao: Last time I checked you were a bit taller than 5'5". I suck SO bad at bike riding :headache:. Who are you doing the Muddy Buddy with, Chet or Miranda? I can't wait to actually see the ARK! Will the dogs be with you?

Lynnda - Thank you for the insider info. It seems like a fun tri, but I've only done one before. It's not Disney sanctioned or anything, right? Where's the expo? On property, I hope. I'm assuming staying @ Wilderness Lodge would be the best idea? I like that they send the elite out first for alligator bait...still freaking out about the amoebas. I suppose a nose plug is in order.

Lou - So is Philly a go? popcorn::

Judy - Hartford has a 1/2 & a full, but be forewarned. Bring your headphones....there's no characters out there to high five ;). They do, however, have THE best post-race food I've ever had. Beer tent, warm apple pie a la mode, hot soup, chili...all from Whole Foods.

What about the rest of you guys? Who's going to Disney this year, anyway?

I ran 5 yesterday & it didn't feel bad at all. Legs were a little stiff, but the feet were pretty OK.

Jodi - If it were today it would be a no. I'm sure I'll stop by the expo on Friday while I am in the city. Who knows? I may get inspiration next week.

Not one mile for me since the NYC beat down. I may go out tomorrow.

Hartford sounds nice. Any race with a beer tent will catch my interest. Plus, I bet we could scrounge up a few BOTs to run that race in 2011 simply because it's close.

Jodi - No offense to Mickey and the gang but I'd much rather have some good food AND BEER than slap hands with a character.

As for WDW, Kathy and I are both doing Goofy again this year.

Lou - Good luck at Philly next weekend (I'd bet a buck you'll be runnng).

You know, I travel to these races with my husband, so I always have a charater with me anyway. :lmao:

AWESOME!!

So it looks like EVERYONE :rolleyes1 wants to run Hartford next year. The course is relatively flat as well...like BQ flat. :thumbsup2. It's usually the 2nd weekend of October (or 3rd - not sure). Please proceed to hotels.com to make a reservation for ChezDoDo's backyard, floor, playroom, couch, etc.

Jodi
The bike seat will go low enough for Miranda ride, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll measure and see what the seat-to-pedal distance is.

I'm planning on doing the Muddy Buddy with Chet. They still haven't posted a date yet, but we have reservations at Fort Wilderness anyway. You'll get a chance to see the ARK and all 3 dogs.

I'll have to look into Hartford.

Hi guys! Just checking in quickly before I head out for the day.

What does everyone have planned for the the holidays? Anyone going anywhere special? We will have another quiet Thanksgiving with just our family here, not sure about Christmas yet. I would to get away, but time is closing in on planning something.

Have a good day!

Hi Colleen! - We've got nothing going on for the holidays except for family stuff. Saving up for the Disney Dream cruise in Feb. SO happy our town's school decided to have Feb. break the week BEFORE President's Day this year...made for MUCH cheaper airfare :woohoo:. Are you going down to Disney Marathon Weekend?

Chester - Don't worry about the seat measuring or anything...I'll ride anything! Thanks so much for offering...I promise not to smash into anything. :headache: Definitely check out Hartford. You're doing that whole 50 state marathon thing, right? popcorn:: I'm SO excited to meet the Ark & puppies!!!

So what's doin' with the rest of you tired ol' Bots??

Is everyone coming up to Providence RI in August for the RnR Half?? :cheer2:

Well since YOU freaks can't get it together, I figured I'd come on here to tell you that I'm doing a Ragnar Relay with ANOTHER group. :snooty:

That's right. My BAREFOOT "friends" are putting a team together for the new New England Course for June 11&12. 220 miles that goes through ALL New England state. RI, CT, MA, VT, NH, ending in ME.

I didn't want it to come to this, guys. I really didn't. But you leave me no choice :sad1: I'm a scorned BOT.

Jodi - I've been thinking about Providence. I registered for Savannah so I though it would be nice to get as many bonus medals as possible.

I hope you have a great time running and would love to hear about it. I really would love to do a relay someday (obviously not this summer).
