Baltimore BOT-Fest

Ran 17.5 miles today in Philly. The pace was a lame 9:15mpm. Didn't get started until 8AM and by 10AM the heat was kicking. I still managed to trudge back to my office and worked for 2 hours after the run.Lou

17.5 miles? Holy crap. Sounds like you're doing my MCM training for me :rotfl:. I gotta start thinking about that soon.....BTW, WHY aren't you coming to MCM again? I know, Halloween, but you can be home b4 trick or treating time!

What about you other BOTS? Everyone diligently training for MCM? I'm going to have to mix up my training between my shoes & fiverfingers. I'm not going to get a week out & hurt my foot again. :scared1:

Jodi! That is fab-u-lous! Congratulations! So what if you suck at biking. You totally ROCKED the RUNNING! Whoooo hooooo! Wow! :woohoo: :worship: :yay:

Mike - Yea, I am not worthy too. Let's start our own group. The Slugs.

Jodi: :worship::worship::worship::worship: Great job getting out there and getting it done! The swim intimidates the heck out of me, I don't think I could do it.

Can I join team slug too?

Lou: Impressive run in this heat. By basement TM and I are bonding with this nasty weather.

Not much going on around here. Fully in the swing of birthday season. DD's birthday party was lots of fun on the 31st. This past weekend we went to our friends' 9yr old party. This upcoming weekend is another 7year old party followed by a black tie wedding we were invited to.:bride: Lots of fun but really bad for my diet. I'm trying to get my runs in to train for DL and did manage 10 miles late last night although no where near as fast as you people.

Now I'm off to see if anything I own is appropriate for a black tie event. I'm more the "check out my new race t-shirt" type than a formal attire gal :confused3

We arrived home from Disney late yesterday. We did Poly Club Level, we went with friends (who like their beer :rolleyes1) so it was nice to have the lounge and beverages available at anytime. Liked the location of the Hawaii building, but our room really showed it's age. Every morning I woke up congested...the room and hallways were musty and felt dirty to me. I felt a lot of the cast members weren't as friendly as they have been in the past. Some of the lounge servers are testy, our waitress in Kona Cafe was unpleasant and it looked liked the concierge staff were inconvenienced when we asked questions. We must have taken them away from their facebook creeping.:sad2:

We DID have a great time and didn't let these things bother me at the time, but I was taken aback a few times.

I should mention a few things we LOVED!

1. Spent A LOT of time on the volcano slide and in the pool this trip.
2. GREAT meal at Ohana.
3. Weather was wonderful. It didn't feel as hot as it has been here in NC.
4. Of course took in a Biergarten :dance3:. Awesome as usual. We had a great waiter here.
5. So nice to have cold beer available whenever we wanted.
6. Really enjoyed American Idol Experience. We went to the first show of the day and then the finale on the last day. Both were fun.
7. We went with another family and had a great time. We always enjoy traveling with others. FUN, FUN, FUN. :cheer2:

Hey there BOTs!!!

Jodi~ YOU ROCK!!! :worship::worship::worship: I do not have a Tri in me at this point in time. Like Jen, the swim scares me. I could do it, but a rock might swim faster than me. :headache:

Colleen~ Welcome back from WDW! Cam, Jenn, Andrew and I were there from Friday night through Sunday afternoon. We stayed at Bay Lake Towers and spent all day Saturday in MK. We had hoped to sit by the pool on Sunday but the rains washed those plans out. We went to DTD to see a movie, then had dinner at the Swan before heading to the airport.

Jen~ Have fun at the wedding!

I managed a quick run last night after work. Temp was near 94 with a heat index much higher.

Miles: 4.0
Time: 36:13
Pace: 9:03

It was of course, really hot and steamy. More of where that came from today and the rest of the week unfortunately. Oh yeah, I signed up for the Ridgefield (CT) Half Marathon on October 3 yesterday. It falls closely behind the Phila. Rock-N-Roll Half on September 19.

Hi to all the lurkers and/or wayward BOTS.

Have a good one!

I must be out of it...Who is Dr. Laura, cat dude & French chef?

Just popping in here to ask a few questions......is this the official MCM thread? Where can I find a list of those who are doing it? I am not signed up for this event but my daughter is. I will be scream-teaming for any and all fellow WISHers and just wanted to know who will be there.

Also, any suggestions for a convenient hotel? I am treating my daughter to the room and would like something within walking distance to the start.

Which airport is best if you don't have a car and need to rely on a cab or public transportation?

Appreciate any advice you can provide......

Hi Jeanne! It's not really the "official" MCM thread. It's more like the official trouble makers thread. :rotfl:

Charlie and Howard are doing the MCM and I am doing the MCM 5K. I don't remember where we are staying but I can find out. If it's the same place as last year it was only a few minutes walk from the start/finish. Ohh very exicting that I'll get to see you there! :woohoo:

Hi Judy! yes, please do find out the hotel.....this will be great! Is you event the same day as the marathon? What times are Howard and Charlie aiming for? I thought I also heard that Jackie (mousedogmom) was planning to do it, but I haven't chatted with her in ages.

This is where we stayed last year. It is within a short walking distance of the FINISH, and it is one METRO stop from the Start (VERY CONVENIENT).

The hotel is actually in the area of the Family Meet and Greet and/or Post Race Celebration area. We also run right by it during the Marathon!

Call ultra soon to try to get a room, it may be tough to get something this late in the game. (I booked OURS on January 24, 2010) GOOD LUCK!

It'll be great to have another Scream Teamer out there!!!:cool1::yay::woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

"mine"? What happened to "ours", Howard??? :guilty:

:lmao:

Jeanne, the 10K and the Full start around the same time, but at different locations. The 10K started on the...the....(OK, here I go failing my immigration test.) The Great Lawn?? Whatever you call that area between the Washington Monument and the Capital Building. You know, where Forrest Gump ran thru. Geez. It's been a while since I was in school so go easy on me. :upsidedow

It's THE MALL.

Jeanne - I think we tried to get a room at the hotel Howard recommended, but it was full. We're staying at the Hilton Crystal City (got a decent rate through the MCM site.) It's not walking distance, but it's convenient to the Metro. Like Howard said, call quickly. We booked right after we registered in April, and had a tough time finding something that we liked and could afford!

Jodi - I'm with you. Equally out of it.

Are we supposed to be running?

Jackie

Oh, so we can shop there, right? (I knew exactly what you meant by Great Lawn, Judy!);)

Jeanne... :rotfl: Good one! And thank goodness at least YOU knew what I was talking about! :thumbsup2

Hi Jeanne!

I'm not running MCM but Mike will be. I'll be there cheering too! :cheer2:

I would recommend looking for a hotel that is close to the finish. It is very easy to take the Metro to the start but a little more difficult to take the Metro at the end of the race. Mike has run MCM three times and the finish area is always a bit crazy and crowded. The lines to get on the Metro after the race have been very LONG!

I don't know any specific hotels to recommend...maybe Matt and Cindy will have some advice.

I'm excited that we'll get to see you twice in October...W&D and MCM!

Oh, so we can shop there, right?

Yes! T-shirts, maps, drinks, pretzels, snacks, etc. Just look for one of the 1970's versions of a panel van along the exterior border of the "big grassy area." :lmao::rotfl::rolleyes1

A panel van...don't you mean a WOODY???

In case anyone missed my Facebook post, I had a FAB-U-LOUS four miles on Saturday. I don't know what happened. Sometimes it just all comes together. Here's the shocker: I had an ELEVEN MINUTE MILE!! :woohoo: OK for ME, that's REALLY FAST! Whooo hooo!
