Baltimore BOT-Fest

I'm pretty sure I won't get to run outside again until March!

Mike - It certainly doesn't look like there will be a lot of outdoor runs for the rest of February. I'm looking at that Caesar Rodney run in March and wondering if I should buy snow shoes.

I want to see you run in snowshoes:rotfl:

I'm wondering about the 5K we are supposed to do this Sunday. I don't really like running on ice which is about what our roads look like now...

OK BotS!!

Hesitant NewsFlash-

Bruce is running for a charity, more on why & what later. Oh my nerve. :headache: He's going to run the 100k, where I ran the 50k 2 years ago, on April 25. I've tried to tell him he's nuts...that he can't go from running 3.5 miles 3x a week to running 62 miles in a few months, but he's having none of it. Can you say MEN? :sad2:

Soooo...I'm trying to get him there healthy....given him a schedule.

Can someone tell him he's nuts & to stop the nonsense? :scared1:

I'll give you the details later. In the meantime...have pity on me.

Did I mention he hasn't run more than 15 miles? And that was in HIGH SCHOOL????:thumbsup2

And does it strike any of you women funny that he's picking a distance that I've never accomplished????:sad2:

Ahhh....gotta love the male ego!:rotfl:

Jodi - It all sound perfectly reasonable to me.;)

Plus, you've got no one to blame but yourself. Aren't you the pied piper of the "less is more" training approach? He's just taking the less and the more a little farther.

Cruise update!!!!!!

OK Bots. Because I know you ALL want to cruise with DoDo, I figured to let you know that our reservations for our 2011 sailings on the NEW Disney Dream (with a waterslide on it) have changed.

We're sailing B2B 3 & 4 night on 2/10/11 & 2/13/11. This is NOT President's week. Our school system pulled a fast one on us & switched vacation to the week b4, so....

Any takers???popcorn::

"Come on, MAN"!! NO running & LOTS of drinking?pirate:

BOTS @ sea?

No?

Anyone?

:sad1:

Well, I ran 8 miles today.

Sorry, we don't have that time off. I think we have one day off maybe, but not the whole week.

Jodi - Bruce looked like one of those guys that keeps himself in the kind of shape that he can run a marathon any time he feels like it. Me, I can run a marathon but look like I am ready to the local beer fest instead of the gym. Marathons have become so popular that the mystic of running one isn't what it used to be. Now a 100K race, that is intimidating. Bruce will probably bang that out and stick it to all of us weekend warrior BOTs. "Now lets see one of you BOTs try this!"

By the way, I did manage 7 measly miles at the gym today in exactly 60:00. Snow is still piled everywhere and there is no way I can see running on the roads for weeks. My local trail still has 12" of snow piled on it. I may need to bust out some x-country skis for Caesar Rodney.

Jodi: I don't know what to tell you about Bruce-- I think it's just a male thing. You have no hope-- maybe less really is more and he is out to prove it.

Mike: Happy Birthday!

Sara: Thinking of you-- keep us posted on how you are doing.

We ran a 5K today in Sea Isle, NJ. The run was along the boardwalk next to a snow covered beach. It was a bit windy, but realy sceinic. The best part of the run was Butch's "mistake." He was trying to take it easy and let his knee recover, at least that was the plan. A friend of ours who is relatively new to running was with us for the event. Butch was doing a fairly easy pace when he thought he saw our friend Ron ahead of him. His competitive instinct kicked in and he was determined to not let Ron beat him. Turns out afer running really hard and fast to catch the guy it was not actually our frined after all. So his "easy" run turned into a PR for the 5K of about 25 min. Our friend finished the race roughly 5 minutes later. :lmao: I got a PR myself, but with no fun story.

Jen (and Butch) - Congrats on the PR's!

Lou - Nice job on the 7 "measly" miles. That's longer than I've gone on my whopping 2 runs this week.

I'm in BIG, BIG trouble. I've got a full and a 50 miler (yes, I got in:rolleyes:) in the next 8 weeks and I am seriously lacking in any quality distance. Plus, I just can't get too excited about TM running and don't see any hope of safely running too much outside for a while. It should be interesting.

50 miles!? And I was worried about Caesar Rodney in 4 weeks. I might have a hard time running 50 miles over 3 days. I think that's why I haven't run a spring marathon. It's kind of hard to train for a marathon in our area in the winter and early spring, especially with 3' of snow on the ground. The fall races are so much easier to train for.

That's true, but my 4 fastest times have been spring races. Not that they have anything to do with this year. I'm just sayin'.

Hmmm, maybe the opposite is true...all of the training wears your body out and you don't have much left for the race. That sounds like the Jodi program. The lack of training means you go in with fresh legs and can run faster times. Might need to try that.

Jen - Love the PR story!! Apparently Butch has the same thing goin' on as Bruce, lol :sad2:.

Mike - :thumbsup2:rotfl2:Can't believe you got in, that's great!! What's the exact day of that 50 miler?? I think it's the weekend b4 Bruce's debacle. You'll do fine...popcorn::

Lou - Cesar Rodney should be interesting....snow covered streets. That's gonna be rough trying to train for that on a dreadmill.

I'm telling you guys, less is more :dance3:. You'll see....

Actually, until this year we've had pretty snow-free winters since I've started running. Very little impact and probably MORE quality miles than in the fall. Sorry Jodi!

Jodi - My 50 miler is April 11.

Good evening fellow running fools. :thumbsup2

I have but 3 more days until 4 weeks are up and I am premitted to begin running again. Easily, but running is running.

I have been following along, just not posting. I've been busy watching the Olympics :happytv:, Being a couch potato and hitting the gym.

Tonight:

• Elliptical = 3.1 miles in 23:03 (7:26 pace)
• Expresso Bike = 4.42 miles in 14:59 (3:23 pace)
• Free weight workout

I am looking forward to running again (outside - somehow) and keeping up with my XT at the gym. I've been able to drop a few pounds with smarter eating and hitting the gym regularly to burn some calories. I have a long way to go to be where I want to be though.

Jodi~ Just support Bruce like he supports you. Charlie is trying to get me to run a 50K up in NY. I would consider it, but I wouldn't consider it a "race", just a distance to cover and stay alive.

Mike~ Belated Happy Birthday! Best of luck training (somehow) for your upcoming races.

Jen & Butch~ Great job on the 5K!!! :banana::thumbsup2:cool1::worship::woohoo::yay:

Sara~ :hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:

Colleen~ Hope you are well and that the family is too!

Lou~ I'm looking forward to running Caesar Rodney at the same time as you (you'll rock it way faster than me). I'm sure the snow will be (mostly) gone by then.

Missing Cindy, Matt, Judy, Chester, Dave, etc.

:grouphug:
