Baltimore BOT-Fest

OMG! I registered for the Princess!

AND

DM said that they won't be taking the trip because they need a new fridge and stove. So the nice family trip will be a solo trip. I need to get my reservation straightened out and book a studio for as many night as possible at BLT.

Sounds like the making of a good series of blogs - or maybe even a film...

I wonder how all this french cooking will affect my running? Should I start carrying wheels of brie with me on my runs and do I need to fill my water bottles with pinot noir? Should I eat lobster thermidor before races? Is this really all just a complicated training plan for the wine and dine half?

Been staying away from the boards since the science question!. Didn't want ya'll to know that I know nothing about NOTHING!!

ChickenBud - Plese do not let all that cooking effect your dancer's physique!! :lmao:!! Not sure why I'm running, but rest assured, it won't last for long.

Dave - Hi

Cindy - Glad the Patellar Paraphanalia helps out!

Megan - Congrats on the registration for Princess. Sounds like a fun race that I'd like to do sometime soon.

Howie - Glad you're taking it easy & psyched about Rodney Allen Rippey et al. How's the familia? Cam's knee? YOUR knee?

I have to chime in about chocolate stout again. You all (who are so stout-inclined) MUST try Southern Tier's Mokah or Chocoate stout...superb! Chocoate donut stout??? Um reminds me too much of that old John Belushi sketch from SNL "That's why I eat the Breakfast of Champions...Little Chocoate Donuts". G-ross!

Yeah....I ran 8 miles on Sat., 4 on Sun. Today I ran 3 & it felt WAY worse than the 8...so go figure. Training?? ME???? Never.:headache:

Cindy: glad the knee is doing better, that Google University has good info :thumbsup2

Matt: your posts are making it much harder to stick to my diet, now I need a snack popcorn::

Just booked a room for Princess weekend at All Star Sports (can't justify spending the weekend DVC rates). Getting excited and realizing I should start training again...

Hello everyone,
My name is Cheree and I am new to posting on boards. I heard about the wish board while completing the WDW 1/2 this January. Meet a couple wishers there that were nice people so I thought I would take a look at the board.
WDW was my second 1/2 marathon and I am going for number 3 this September at Disneyland. Could not resist the opportunity for the Coast-2-coast. I just hope to get the castle medal and nothing to far away from that since it is the anniversary. Maybe they will make it a 5 with the castle over it. As my sister and I completed the WDW we felt the sweepers were way to close so I plan on being able to run the first 5k at Disneyland to get as far away from them as I can.
I hope to be able to complete the full at WDW in 2012, although I am tempted for 2011. We will see how my training for Septemeber works out.
Hope to get to know you all.

Hi Cheree!

Mike Did you sign up for the bull run run? If so, I hope you are out running right now :-)
Matt - I did throw my name into the lottery pool. And I'm not making this next part up; within 15 minutes of signing up my right foot started hurting for no apparent reason! WTH!? I don't think I could have run today if I wanted. I'll give it a go tomorrow. Holy Psychosomatic BS Batman!

Add 5 for dinner this weekend. What time should we be there? I'll bring some sticks of butter.

Jen - I think Kathy is booked at one of the All Stars for the Princess as well.

Jodi - I'll have to see if the local beverage superstore has the suds you mentioned. Maybe I'll just have a good creme filled donut on the side.:thumbsup2

Howard - Sorry, but for some of us D-bagness just comes naturally. Keep working at it!

Hi to everyone else!

Good morning folk,

Nothing to say, just getting ready for work :guilty:and had a minute.
Looks like MCM is be the Fall marathon of choice, so I changed the thread title.

Good Morning everyone!

Disney was my 12th half? (4 WDW, CMM, Indi once and 2 Ft Wayne ) I've done 1 full but didn't enjoy the experience nearly as much as the halfs. My next race will be CMM (hopefully) and if not probably Ft Wayne in september. My next Disney race might be the Princess next year- depending on if the DD's can do it with me - or maybe my SIL. I'm 54 years old and the mom of 4 (1 man 28 yrs old and 3 women ages 26,25, and 21 the 2 youngest did WDW half 2010 with me older girl did a couple of races with me before she got married). We live in Huntington Indiana and I'm a substitute teacher. (Dinner last night was airpopped popcorn LOL)
Todays workout will be weight lifting and a 2 ish mile easy run (inside as the windchill here is about 0 and I"m a huge weather wuss- luckily our Y has an indoor track).

Groovy! :thumbsup2 I feel so "in". :lmao:

Anybody else doing the MCM10K? Anybody?? Anybody??? :confused3

Cindy and I ran the MCM 10K 2 years ago. It was actually really fun. The best part (other than the fact that you get a medal for a 10K) is that you finish in time to watch the winners of the MCM come in. We ended up sticking around to see Mike and a few other wisher types come in.

Hey BOTs!

Sorry for the quick all about me post. I like the "MCM" name on the thread. I wish this race wasn't on Halloween. I don't see myself being able to work that one in this year but I'll try.

Got in 4 miles outside this morning. First time I ran outside since the WDW full and the temp today was about the same. It felt good to run outside as I have been battling a chest/sinus cold and I just needed to get some fresh air again.

Have a good day!

Lou

Colleen - Thanks for changing the thread name:hug:

Judy - I "mentioned" the 10K to my H and he ignored me so at this point the jury's still out on whether or not he'll run itpopcorn::.

Matt - With all of that cooking it's no wonder you're banging out the miles simultaneously:thumbsup2 I love to cook as well and I find it to be a greatly relaxing hobby:hippie:.

Cindy - Glad you've got the knee straightened out:wizard:

Megan - Congrats on the Princess registration:yay:

Cheree - :welcome:

Having my surgery tomorrow so I'll be MIA for a bitpopcorn::

Oh good! Other 10K'ers! :thumbsup2

Matt - I did it last year for the first time and had a blast! :woohoo: But then, how could I not have had a good time...alll those Marines... :rolleyes1

Love the new title, gang! :thumbsup2

Sara: Good luck with your surgery and I'll keep you in my thoughts. \

Mike: Thanks for the info on the bourbon chase relay! I'm definitely interested in doing this, but can't this year (week after Baltimore, which I deferred last year due to scheduling conflicts).

I'd be in for this kind of adventure in 2011, though, and might even be able to talk DOOD into it. But if you're looking at 2010, I think there might some 'Ohana cousins--and Maura--who might be interested. Food (and spirits) for thought.... :scratchin

Hello One and All! Botville seems to be growing somehow. :confused3

Welcome newcomers!

Matt: To answer your question about my Doctor... he said non-impact cross-training is fine (bike, elliptical, rowing, etc.). Yes, it does involve bending the knee, but there is no major impact on the joint like it gets with running.

I am still taking the anti-inflammatories to keep the knee pain-free. Just walking around on it at work seems to aggrivate it. However, I've only been taking one or two a day (vs 3 that are prescribed). Some days, I only take one. Today was a bit strange, it hurt a lot despite the meds, it even cracked/popped a few times just walking around.

The discomfort didn't stop me from going to the gym tonight. I rode 3.37 miles on the bike in 14:34 and "covered" 3.1 miles on the elliptical in 28 minutes flat. I was feeling it (in the knee) once I was finished, but it feels fine now (about 2 hours later).

Cam's Knee is doing ok. She is going to physical therapy and it seems to be coming along well. I don't expect any miracles. I doubt that she'll be cleared to "run" for some time. Luckily, for the most part, it doesn't hurt as much.

MCM: I booked a room at the Holiday Inn Rossyln/Key Bridge (as did Charlie). I got a good rate using the entertainment card. I will be signing up for MCM with the guaranteed entry soon. By the way Matt I was one of the "wisher types" that you waited around to see after the MCM 10K two years ago. This year will be my third MCM in a row. (Note: pending the NYC lottery.)

I should be able to begin running on February 18th. The countdown continues until then. The Caesar Rodney Allen Ripey Half Marathon is on March 21. That leaves me plenty of time to train up (gradually). :rolleyes1

Sara: Good luck! Please come back real soon to give us all an update.

:grouphug:
