Hello One and All! Botville seems to be growing somehow.
Welcome newcomers!
Matt: To answer your question about my Doctor... he said non-impact cross-training is fine (bike, elliptical, rowing, etc.). Yes, it does involve bending the knee, but there is no major impact on the joint like it gets with running.
I am still taking the anti-inflammatories to keep the knee pain-free. Just walking around on it at work seems to aggrivate it. However, I've only been taking one or two a day (vs 3 that are prescribed). Some days, I only take one. Today was a bit strange, it hurt a lot despite the meds, it even cracked/popped a few times just walking around.
The discomfort didn't stop me from going to the gym tonight. I rode 3.37 miles on the bike in 14:34 and "covered" 3.1 miles on the elliptical in 28 minutes flat. I was feeling it (in the knee) once I was finished, but it feels fine now (about 2 hours later).
Cam's Knee is doing ok. She is going to physical therapy and it seems to be coming along well. I don't expect any miracles. I doubt that she'll be cleared to "run" for some time. Luckily, for the most part, it doesn't hurt as much.
MCM: I booked a room at the Holiday Inn Rossyln/Key Bridge (as did Charlie). I got a good rate using the entertainment card. I will be signing up for MCM with the guaranteed entry soon. By the way
Matt I was one of the "wisher types" that you waited around to see after the MCM 10K two years ago. This year will be my third MCM in a row. (Note: pending the NYC lottery.)
I should be able to begin running on February 18th. The countdown continues until then. The Caesar Rodney Allen Ripey Half Marathon is on March 21. That leaves me plenty of time to train up (gradually).
Sara: Good luck! Please come back real soon to give us all an update.
