The other day Rachael Ray made a salad dressing of strawberry preserves and balsamic vinegar. She then cut up some strawberries really thin and put them on chopped romaine hearts. It looked so good!
Many years ago when it first became "big" I asked for a bottle from William sonoma for Christmas. This was when The Frugal Gourmet was big and he was always raving about how great it was. I wasn't impressed. I now keep a cheapie bottle from the grocery store in the house but I don't use it much.
I had to come back to this thread because I previously posted that I hated it. But I tried it again last night and it was great!! For some reason I keep thinking about it and can't wait to go home to have some more. What is it about this stuff??
I tend to like it as a salad dressing, my favorite being from Panera Bread.
My DD4 loves it too. But then, she loves it when my DH makes a vinegar (any type) and oil dressing and will drink what is left after she eats her salad. This girl actually asks for salad (and cottage cheese, blech) for lunch on most days.
Tried it and didn't like it. Funny thing is my last name is very close to that spelling, so I use "balsamic"" to help people pronounce my last name (which is Balsamo)
