My daughter has already declared that she wants to bring back the clear disney balloons that have a colored mickey balloon in them. In the past we have travelled by car to the parks. This time we are flying. Any issues with taking the balloons on the plane?

Thank you.

A quick googling shows there aren't any explicit rules against bringing a balloon on a plane, but most of the reports don't turn out well. There are many reports of TSA or airline staff stopping people before security. There are other reports of the balloons bursting when the air pressure changes in the plane. I think in any case, it would have to be stowed in an overhead bin, and in today's bloody arena of competing for overhead bin space, I think a balloon would lose.

The two best ideas I saw were to carefully deflate it and re-inflate it t home, or mail it in a sturdy box using UPS ground service (might burst if it flys anywhere).

The last time I flew home on SW there was a teenager that had one of those balloons with her on the plane. The flight attendants let her keep it but she had to keep it on her lap, it couldn't extend above the height of the seat in front of her. They also warned her and the rest of the plane that there was a balloon on board and it may pop (I think so no one freaked out from the noise if it did). Not sure if the flight attendants were being nice or if it's normally allowed.

If you're bringing it back by car the thing will last forever. We don't buy them (3 kids = 3 balloons = NO) but a friend bought one for her son and I think he might even still have that thing in his bedroom a year later!
