as a very new dvc'r last week we went to dw on a non dvc trip (this was booked with the free dining package prior to purchasing our dvc).

during our trip we went to each and every dvc resort to really check them out for future dvc trips. I am just wondering about balconys most of them seemed to just have 2 chairs and a small table do any of them have a picnic type table to eat outside when on your balcony???

Never seen one, except that the OKW 1 bedrooms and bigger seem to have a plastic table for 4.

Many of the balconies are too small. Some have larger balconies (had one at BCV once that was huge) but there was still the same mini table and 2 chairs on it.

I agree with last poster......all have small tables and 2 chairs. And yes the OKW table did seem bigger now that I'm thinking of it.

OKW 1BR, 2BR & GV units have huge balconies with a round, dining-sized table and 4 chairs. Hilton Head also has large balconies with picnic tables and rocking chairs. Other than that, all of the 1 & 2BR balconies are only big enough for a small, end-table sized table and two chairs. I'm not sure about the GVs at the resorts other than HH and OKW.

All studios have small balconies.

Well, it's not at WDW, but HHI 1 bdrm, in the lodge if you can believe it. That's a balcony!

We treat our big OKW balcony like another room. The table and 4 chairs is a great spot for breakfast, and we will often just have a snack and something to drink out there for a break anytime. The ceiling fan and light make it seem like an extension of the living room, and we usually treat it that way.

I requested a pool view for our 1 BR BCV vacation. I'm probably not going to request anything else or change it, but I've read a few posts about some of the balconies at BCV being "stand-up" balconies. I know some of them are oddly shaped from some photos I've seen.

So can anyone explain the various types of BCV balconies and what are the chances of getting a "good" balcony in a 1BR pool view there? Thanks.

BCV doesn't have any standing only balconies although the Beach Club does.

Every balcony at BCV is large enough for two chairs and the small table mentioned above. Some are truly huge although most of the large ones are very long rather than deep.

If we get a large one, it's like an extra bonus but not something I would stress about. Not enough of them to worry about requesting. We've enjoyed every balcony we've had at BCV.

Those OKW balconies with lights are wonderful.:thumbsup2

Thank you very much (I should just start PMing you all my BCV questions!)

I must have been confusing BC balcony comments with BCV. We're there for 8 nights, so I think I would have been disappointed to only have a stand-up balcony.

We're going to OKW in November (studio) so I'll be interested to see the bigger rooms and balconies there. So, DVC member for 9 months, and we will have stayed at: VWL, SSR, OKW, and BCV. I think we're doing pretty well "saving" all this money!! :rotfl2:

That's an amazing record in 9 months!:worship:

I know what you mean about the "savings.";) Add ons, APs, DDE and maybe DDPs...ah, how much we save.:rotfl:
