OK, after my previous post I found the DIS main page for AKL. Lots of good stuff there. It says all rooms have balconies? Is that right? Please respond if you have any personal experience with this Lodge.

Yippie!

This is our FAVORITE   lodge to stay! The Savannah Views all have balconies and the pool views do as well. They are big enough to fit 2 adults out there sitting on the chairs they provide and our DD13 goes out their with us as well. It's a bit narrow - but no problems here. You'll have the best time EVER!!

I had a savannah room as well as a parking lot view and they both had a balcony. It was great with the chairs to look out and relax...you'll love it.

yes they all have balconies.....I know this because I stared at the same girraff all week from mine.

the whole animals out your window thing wears off by day 3.

Yes, ALL rooms have balconies - but not all rooms have Savannah or pool views. The rooms facing the front of the resort are 'standard' view, overlooking high grassy/treed areas (and the parking lot)

Sitting out on the balcony in the morning before the kids got up and watching the giraffe's eat was nice for me!!!!

My family loved AKL! We never tired of the animals, and made time to just relax on our balcony to watch them. We also took time to visit all of the savannahs because there were different animals on each of them. My DGD told us she never wanted to leave.

Certainly a valid personal experience, but it's never worn off for our family. We found ourselves spending much more time relaxing at the resort on the balcony enjoying morning coffee or evening wine. Kids never tire of waking up and first thing jumping out of bed to hop onto the balcony to greet the animals. It is always an amazing experience every day. :thumbsup2

One of my favorite things to do in WDW is to sit on a Savannah view balcony at AKL & watch the animals. We do that for hours everyday we're there. Love it & never, ever tire of it.

Great pictures! They really make you feel what its like to stay there. We are thinking about staying at AKL in Feb., can't wait!

Don't get me wrong. It was cool the 1st 2 or 3 days. But is got old quick. Even my 4 year old got in the act...."hey dad look.....a giraffe"

AKL is a must do at some point, but if i go back, and I most likely will, I would preffer a pool view over a savanah view.

I love watching the animals, especially in the mornings - it's like they are saying good morning to you :)

Never ever ever ever ever get tired of it - day 3, day 10 or day 16 - I love it!

That's like saying seeing the Castle at the Magic Kingdom wears off!?!?!

I never tire of watching the action out on the savanna. But... I'm a big animal and nature lover anyway, so maybe it's just not for everyone.

Our room had a balcony alright, but it was located at the end of a row of balconies, so there was a wall to our left that blocked much of the view of the animals.

Wow Seaspray, you totally made me feel confident in my choice. I've been having second thoughts all day about spending more for the pool view vs a standard. I read many posts and facts that only about 100 rooms in the whole lodge don't have a savanna view, so I was thinking that my standard room might have had a chance of the savanna....

But now I'm pleased to actually see the balcony and feel like I've checked it out already!

So looking forward to a new and different way to experience Disney!

I'm about to check the tour reports for more info...I'm hooked.

Everyone feel free to post all experiences, we plan on spending 2 days mostly in the hotel before going to Mickey's NSSP with our 3yo.

We did that after 3 days at Nigara falls. We were like "look, it's Niagara falls!" Every time we passed it. It got really old bU i still think it was so cool to go there. My kids loved it but after a wjhile, we got sick of the falls.
