BAIT and SWITCH

Am I seeing this wrong...am I the only one who feels the burn?

So WDW lures you into a fall vacation with the advertising of the premier of a nighttime spectacular (Rivers of Light, along with new AK longer hours, entertainment, etc) and then they cancel that. Instead of replacing those things with something else their current largest promotion on their website is the removal of a parade. Is this not a bait and switch of an enormous magnitude? We were promised a spectacular and given a reduction instead.

The fine print on every page of the Disney site says "attractions and entertainment are subject to change." Sorry you're disappointed!

Yes, that's what it sounds like...how disappointing! Being Disney though, I'm sure, somewhere in the original small print, their lawyers had them put "all entertainment scheduled to change." It doesn't make it easier, but it relieves them. They could at least offer dining or something else

To be honest if I felt like I was bait and switched I would cancel my vacation as I would probably feel slighted the whole time.

I have a fall vacation but have kicked out and could still see MSEP if I wanted however I never did plan to see it on my vacation but now may hop one night in hopes of catching it again.

What did they cancel? I thought ROL was expected to be running around 9/15? AK is scheduled to be open until 9PM when I'm there. What did I miss saying that its all canceled?

ROL isn't cancelled Main Street Electric is going back to Disneyland. ROL has no official opening and is only rummored to start on the 15th.

i understand how you feel. i'm supposed to plan out and order a meal i'm eating NEXT YEAR, but they get to pull the plug on whatever they want, which seems like an awful lot lately. we had us slated on the spreadsheet for 5 days worth of MSEP. we had a dinner planned at tusker that may or may not happen now. if FOF doesn't appear on the calendar at some point, i'm quite sure this will be our last wdw trip. my kid (this is her graduation trip) has already said if we didn't already have flights booked, she'd rather do hawaii.

Definitely disappointing. I'm making a special trip to see MSEP before it ends, but a little more warning would have been nice.

No bait and switch. That's just being extreme. Disney didn't make any "promised" to trick you into booking a trip. It's just wrong to say so.

Attractions, shows, and other entertainment are always subject to change and that is made pretty clear. Does it stink when your favorite just happens to be the one that is down/gone? Yes and it's okay to be disappointed. But sometimes one also has to have realistic expectations.

Spare us the message from Corporate Marketing. Disney customers ABSOLUTELY have a right to be upset.
Spare me the lecture on what a longtime member of this board can and cannot post. I never said they couldn't be upset. In fact, I said I was sorry they were disappointed.

I'm going in mid-October, so my entertainment options are just as up in the air as anyone else's. But the faux dramatics of calling closures and delayed openings a bait switch is a bit overwrought.

That's not what bait and switch means...

I am disappointed, but understand the deal with MSEP.

I'm disappointed about ROL as well, but I work in corporate America and I understand things don't always go as planned.

What has me upset is that when I booked this Disney trip, it was with the understanding that there would be nighttime hours at AK. It was going to be a different experience for my family, and one that factored into the booking of the trip.

I'm sorry, but 7:00 or 7:30 is not 'night' in Orlando in October. Maybe for 5-10 minutes later in the month, but that's hardly enough time to get the nighttime experience out of the park.

So, whether you disagree with the term 'bait and switch' or not, it is a reason for customers to be not only disappointed, but angry.

I agree with the disappointment in the inconsistencies and delays and cancellations, but if you're going to be accusatory towards Disney as a company at least be correct in what you're accusing them of.

I am super annoyed that MSEP is ending the week I'm there. Between the nights MK is closed early because of MNSSHP, the last few chances to see MSEP in Florida and the 45th anniversary, the MK is going to be crazy crowded during the nights of our trip.

I wouldn't call it bait and switch though.

The night time entertainment is my favorite thing about going to WDW. I had every intention of trying to see MSEP two or three times during our trip even before it was cancelled. All of this will make it that much harder, but first world problems...

I do wish Disney would schedule the Star Wars fireworks and Fantasmic further apart that week so I could see them both on the same night. That would help my particular situation, but I know it won't happen.
