Bail out doesn't pass!

DEMS repeat after me....IT IS NOT ALL THE REPUBLICANS FAULT...IT IS NOT ALL THE REPUBLICANS FAULT....

And if you feel that way than the Democrats were there and did not stop it... that should make all us Democrats all proud.

ALL OF WASHINGTON ARE A BUNCH OF ****S.

Watch for a terrorist attack before the election.

Pelosi says Dems delivered on their bargain, half of the votes, and the Repubs did not deliver their half of the votes.

Why she gave an irritating jab prior is odd. :confused3

But bottom line the Repubs are the reason it failed.

No, it's not. :headache:

and, as the dow has had the largest one day drop in history, I think the world markets will keep up the direction downward when they open tonight and in the morning.

The one good thing, if Wall Street continues to take a beating (there will probably be some buyers tomorrow) I think both Dems and Repub's will run to the floor to vote on a package......As soon as middle america wakes up and realizes that their retirement account is empty, college fund is empty, etc, and, they figure out that this problem directly effects them.

And, while I detest McCain, and am for Obama, I think both showed a total failure of leadership in this whole debacle. Neither took the lead.

I know, my dh and I are 50 and we're not sure how much more of a hit our 401 k's can take. It's not like I have 30 years of work in front of me to recoup. My husband has already said last week that he's never going to be able to retire if this keeps up. That's going to be how it is for all of us if this keeps up. I still have 1 more kid to get through college and 2 in college right now, not looking good in my books right now.

Oh for Pete's sake!! STOP!! with the partisian nonsense already!! FORTY PERCENT of the House Dems voted NAY as well.

I'm ticked at them ALL.

But please, continue to bash Republicans if you it makes you feel better.

I'm with you Charade! If congress is any thing like the people here on the Dis, I'm not surprised that nothing gets done. Can any post a question without it turning into finger pointing.

But will you agree that the republicans had an equal part in the failure?

Ok I'll bite. Let's say Bush and his friends did cause this, HOW does this help.

This is why I hate the blame game. Nothing gets fixed. If I'm on the verge of losing the value of my 401K (which has taken a big hit) I really don't give a fig who you say is to blame, I want to know what is being done to fix the problem.

No, it's not. :headache:

Really? Then please explain this:

Said GOP House Leader John Boehner
"I do believe that we could have gotten there today had it not been for this partisan speech that the speaker gave on the floor of the House.

If that isn't acting like a bunch of 5 year olds, both Pelosi and the Republicans that changed their vote because of her speech, then what is? I mean Boehner said he believes it would have passed (meaning the Republicans would have voted for it) except they got their feelings hurt. Heaven forbid they act like adults.

I completely agree.

I HATE to hear people pointing fingers. Just fix it already. I really don't want to hear the blame game from Washington right now.

Or from our candidates either.

It's so childish.

The dollar is up because the government won't be printing $700 billion dollars to flood the market with. This has been my big problem all along with this plan. The value of the $. Simple economics 101 supply and demand.

:sad2:

It was not partisan. It was BI-PARTISAN. 40% of DEMS and 66% of Repubs voted against it.

It's nice to see them agree about something.:lmao:

I assume they will not resume talks until Thursday, since tomorrow and Wednesday are the Jewish High Holidays.

I don't care what holiday it is, they better have their butts in the house fixing this mess.

Pelosi says Dems delivered on their bargain, half of the votes, and the Repubs did not deliver their half of the votes.

But bottom line the Repubs are the reason it failed.

Pelosi running her mouth is why it failed. The repubs weren't big on voting for this to begin with, but they were going to suck it up. Pelosi then saying this was all their fault wasn't going to put them in a very complaint mood; if the dems think they are the only thing that can save our economy then, let them. Oh, but they couldn't because they also felt torn on this vote. The repubs weren't going to let this be a win for Pelosi, that she somehow showed the repubs the error in their ways.

It's not just republicans. 95 democrats voted against it also.

This is a BI-PARTISAN FAILURE both parties should be proud to take this claim.

It's exciting to see a democrat who isn't blaming this solely on the repubs.

Open mouth, Insert foot!

I blame both parties!

If this was such a problem for the Dem's and then why didn't they do something sooner?

If what Pelosi said caused the Rep's to cry, then they should have settled it later!

And you've seen the light.

Way to go Nancy opening up your BIG mouth and bringing politics into it.

She has done NOTHING since January 2007 and now she has to grandstand!!

.

Pelosi deserves to be shown the door over this.

Ahhh, how are 67% and 40% the same? According to our friends on the other side of the aisle, the 67% of the Republicans who voted against the bailout are practically the same as the 40% of the Democrats who voted against it. HUH?

No wonder the Republicans can't run a government. They can't add.

But will you agree that the republicans had an equal part in the failure?

Equal my eyeball. Sixty-seven percent of the Republicans voted against the bailout deal as opposed to 40% of the Democrats.

Maybe there is a better plan. Maybe the Reps should act like adults and get down to business-personal feelings aside. Maybe this is a good thing. There are certainly enough citizens against it, Democrats and Republicans alike. They need to keep working on it. WE-their bosses, the people who hired them - need to keep their feet to the fire. I'm sending my rep a message. "Go back to work, you aren't done yet. Don't come out until you get it right." If they're going to act like children, I shall treat them like children.

AND, fwiw, reading this thread makes it easy to see why it failed. People are mean, they belittle and snipe if they don't see things going their way. We should stop talking here and pressure our Senators and Congressmen.

How's the 401K looking, John? How's that deregulated free market working for you now? I bet regulation is starting to look real good.

You mean the government regulations that mandate lenders give mortgages to people regardless of their ability to pay back the loans?

Unintended consequences are a *****, aren't they?

The Democrats are the majority party. They could have passed this bill without a single Republican.
