My DH and I are booked on the Dream for a mid November cruise and we are trying to decide what kinds of excursions etc we would like to do. We would like to try snorkeling somewhere but my main concern is that the water will be too cold to enjoy it. What is the weather and water temp like in mid-November? Too cold to be in the water?

In Nassau we are considering trying the Catamaran Sail and Reef Snorkeling Tour or the Caribbean Queen Snorkel Tour. Is it totally pointless to just rent snorkel equipment on Castaway Cay? I wonder if that would be a better option that way if we are just miserable with the cold we can be done and not feel like we wasted as much money?

Thanks for any feedback! We are first time cruisers and not sure exactly what to do with ourselves :)

We've snorkelled in the Caribbean in January. November should be fine.

It can vary, and it can depend on what temperatures you are used to. ;) We are from Texas (hot weather/warm water temps) and were on a Western Caribbean cruise late November last year. The water temps in the Caymans were OK - a touch chilly for us, but OK once you got in & we had a snorkling excursion there. Then a storm front came through and it was too cold for us to even get in the water at Castaway Cay a few days later. :confused3

We did a Western Caribbean in Nov with a double dip at CC. The water was fine for us. We had a great time snorkeling and I do not remember anyone complaining about it being cold.

We were in the water at CC in early December, and it was nice. A bit chilly at first, but it felt nice after a few moments.

We have been in late November and the first week of December. The weather overall was up and down, and while the water wasn't too cold for us (we are from CT) it was a little chilly/windy so we didn't snorkle long on CC.

We bought our own equipment with us instead of renting on CC. I preferred having our own to put in our mouths, but we did rent flippers for DH and I to save space in the luggage.

Enjoy!

I guess we can go ahead and try it. If it's too bad we can just get out. Never know when we would be able to do this again so I suppose we might as well go for it! Thank you for your help!

We snorkeled mid-November in CC. It was quite chilly (and I am -or was- a Northerner!) We did get used to it, but admittedly, it was chilly! Perhaps you could have (or the excursion might have???) a shortie type wet suit, or just the top half, if you don't like cold water?

Have a great time!:goodvibes
