Bags on rides help

I have been so many times, that I can't believe I am even having to ask but I cannot think if I have ever had to bring a bag on a ride, aside from a small purse.

Dh wants me to stuff things in my pockets so we don't have to bring bags in the parks and deal with security. Usually, I bring a small cross body type bag that will hold my sunglasses and wallet.

This coming trip however, I know I will need to carry a lot of items for my kids. We are pasty white and reapplication of sunblock is essential, along with certain medications my daughter needs and just a bunch of boring other stuff that I know we will need at the parks.

Anyway, I am going to want to bring a backpack, not a huge one. but I forget, can bags fit on the rides? Or what would I do with it? I have a friend who said she brought her backpack with her even on Rockin roller coaster and just put the straps through her legs. Is this allowed? Why can't I think?

Any help would be appreciated so I can start planning.

We have taken a medium to large size backpack every trip (we have younger kids) and have gone on just about every ride with it (7DMT, BTMRR, ToT, TSMM, Dumbo, etc.) and never had a problem fitting it in between on legs. It does made the leg space very tight fyi. We have not taken it on Space, RnR or EE as those rides we did rider switch since kids were too small.

I take a backpack on everything at WDW. Sometimes I have to cram it in, but it fits and is allowed.

I had a decent sized LL Bean backpack this year, and was allowed to take it on every ride. It fit between my feet/legs on the floor. Tight fit on 7DMT, but it worked. For Space MT, I wore the backpack on my front, arms through the straps, to make it work. At Universal they have strict rules and you must put the backpack in a locker for most rides-- at Disney, they are allowed but need to be stowed. Some rides have a loose net basket in the foot area for a pack.

**ETA-- I didn't even try for Rock n Roller Coaster, but since we have a little one my husband and I had to take turns so it wasn't an issue.**

That said, the only two rides I've found where I can't fit it at my feet are Space Mountain and the Barnstormer. On those rides, I pull the ride's lap restraint down, then turn the bag around, put my arms through the shoulder straps, and hug it during the ride. No problem.

We bring a backpack on all of the rides. We never have a problem putting it on the floor in front of us. On RnR, we do stick one of our
legs through the arm loop before setting it on the ground. We've never had an issue.

We take our bag (usually a small backpack) with us on every ride. It can be a tight squeeze on a few that the PP's mentioned. RnRC is the one I always worry about but we haven't lost anything yet.

I use a cinch sack and haven't had a problem. On the roller coasters I just make sure it's looped around a foot or in the storage net.

Security is not that bad for bag checks. Take a bag you won't regret it.

Yes, RNR has pouches on the back of the seat in front of you, and if your bag doesn't fit, you can put it on the floor and wrap it around the bar or your legs without a problem. I didn't have problems bringing my bag on any rides at WDW.

Universal is another story...they have rides where you are REQUIRED to use the lockers for everything, including small bags and fanny packs, but that is not the case at Disney.

If you pack your pockets full, security may ask you to empty them! Bring the bag!

We have a medium LL Bean Backpack and it's perfect- I'm able to put in a change of clothes for both kids, sunscreen, rain ponchos, etc and have never had a problem taking it on any rides.

I bring a backpack every trip! On most rides I just set it by my feet. On roller coasters or things that spin/move more quickly I still set it by my feet, but then I put my legs through the arm strap holes and pull the straps up so they are across my thighs right above my knees. The only one I had a moment with was Space Mountain, the way you are strapped in it made it more difficult for me to get my legs through the straps, I eventually did, but thought the ride was going to take off before I was ready and had a little panic moment lol. We usually go in November, so the bag is pretty packed with snacks, sweatshirts for the evening, gloves, ponchos, etc.

Something we did with the sunscreen was I put some in a 3oz bottle to take on our carryon on the plane in case something happened with our luggage we didn't want to not have sun screen our first day. In the beginning of the day we lotioned from the big bottle but I made sure the little bottle was full and carried that in the backpack to reapply. Then every night (or morning) I just made sure to refill the small bottle. A large bottle of sunscreen can be heavy but the little bottle was plenty sufficient for us and much, much lighter.

I take as little as possible (phone, cards, cash and inhaler) and love my buddy pouch that was recommended in another thread. It was great on our last trip especially the water rides so my phone didn't get wet.

At most, security might take five minutes if you get behind a family of four who ALL have backpacks stuffed to the gills and don't unzip them before the guard is ready to check on them and they are all right behind each other. However, you know better and will avoid them.

Taking one bag with you is not a deal breaker to save time. If your husband thinks so, once you are in the parks and he needs a bathroom break, tell him to hold it because you want to save time.

I try to take as little as possible, but when touring with the family and friends I use a backpack for everyone. I've never had an issue taking my backpack on an attraction. The cast member loading you onto a thrill attraction will probably not let you slip by with it kept on your back, but the backpack will sit under your feet just fine without falling out. I've had a pack at my feet on Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Rockin' Roller Coaster, etc. No problems here
