Bags, Busses, and Booze - A Where has all the Rum gone Girls 2013 F&W TR

I bet it was cool to see the Go-Go's. I would have enjoyed that.

You go girl - you remembered everything thing you guys had. Love it. Denny had the happy lychee and I remember it looked liked a glass of straight up vodka. :rotfl2: Yup - probably one of the strongest drinks there.

Ahhh - Armand - he cracks me UP. And what's up with the photobomber in Remy's picture. :confused3

Great update!

The food options are pretty fun. I too am not sure about the vegetarian haggis... :rotfl:

thanks :goodvibes

 hi there! So glad you are here to join along!. I too am going to be doing ToT again next year. Next year though is a couples trip with just dh and I. Once I get through my january trip, I will start on a PTR for fall 2014. If you want to join there, I will be sure and give you a heads up when it starts. :goodvibes

For sure! I will be looking for your 2014 PTR.

I bet it was cool to see the Go-Go's. I would have enjoyed that.

It wasn't a bad show. And even though I probably wouldn't have paid to go see them outside of this... I really did enjoy it.

It did seem like straight vodka! And... as far as remembering, I have the passport that I just wrote the date and who had the item in. It made it pretty easy to remember.
Ahhh - Armand - he cracks me UP. And what's up with the photobomber in Remy's picture. :confused3

In the end he did, but I was petrified at first. I am not a big rule breaker... and I thought I indadvertedly had attempted to break the rules.

And the photo bomber?? :rotfl2: I know, right? I wonder if they/he was just trying to figure out what all the commotion was.

For sure! I will be looking for your 2014 PTR.

:thumbsup2

So I guess I'll start the reintroduction while I watch this show that Ann has gotten me addicted too. Anyone ever heard of a little show called Unco Upon a time. I started Season 1 Episode 1 after we got back..... so in 13 days I'm in Season 2 Episode 18. Lmao!

I'm in! Just to support another Once Upon a Time fan! I have been addicted to the show since the very first episode! And since it's on its winter hiatus, I have started rewatching every episode since I have seasons 1 & 2 on bluray and season three I can't delete off my DVR yet! :rotfl: So now off to read the TR! (And sorry, that was a lot of exclamation marks, I guess I'm excited.... and dots instead of an exclamation mark.)

Hi Ladies,
Loving your TR so far. I haven't had a chance to comment as I have been very ill the past 5 weeks but I have enjoyed reading along while lying in bed sick. :)

Ashley - I did the same as you! I 'discovered' once upon a time and within a couple days was all caught up! Guess being sick in bed wasn't all bad as it gave me lots of extra time to watch shoes! :happytv:

Ann - love to photos of F&W. My mom and I are going next October and F&W is one of those things we are debating on. Not sure if it will be worth it for me since I am vegan but I hear there are more and more things that I could eat there these days, and of course Vegetarian Haggis! :confused3 :rotfl:

Hope you are having a wonderful Christmas!

I'm not a big Studios fan myself...but I do love TOT! :)

Yay...you got to see Remy. I love that restaurant.

I thought I commented on your MNSSHP update but apparently not. LOVE your costume!

Fun eating and drinking both around the world/F&W and at the Wave. Too funny about kissing his nose but ugh on your family getting sick.

That cheese plate looks great! I thought Remy was gone from les chef's, if he is still there I would be SOOO happy! The boys would get such a kick out of it.

I am a bit taken aback that random people at a table near you coveted your (Ginger's) food, nice of her to offer but the fact they took her up on it is...weird. Really really weird.

Ashley, those are some ugly hours, hopefully you are through the worst of it now but UGH on unsavory activities at the workplace...creepy!

Looks like a good time at F&W. Almost didn't even need that ADR, although I guess you don't get to meet Remy at the booths. Nothing like an afternoon wandering the World Showcase and grazing on all kinds of food and drinks. :thumbsup2

Once Upon a Time is a top my favorites list for sure!!!! So I totally understand the exclamations marks!

So glad to have another fan join us!!!

Hi Ladies,

I am so sorry to hear you have been ill! 5 weeks is a long time! I hope you are feeling better!!!

Being that you are vegan, I am not sure. No eggs and cheese would limit things more than just the "no meat" option (and there are plenty of no meat) The terra booth has items made with gardein products... and the cheese was a cashew cheese...so maybe?

Hope you are having a wonderful Christmas!
Thank you! I hope yours was wonderful too!!! I had a nice Christmas and birthday. Now I am just hunkering down to get work done before my next trip. I am undecided if I will be able to take New Years off or not.

I'm not a big Studios fan myself...but I do love TOT! :)

ToT... :scared: I am such a wimp. :rotfl2:

Yay...you got to see Remy. I love that restaurant.
It is truly one of my favorites. I LOVE the lobster bisque. SOOO yummy. It was the first time I had ever seen Remy so that made it all the more special.

Fun eating and drinking both around the world/F&W and at the Wave. Too funny about kissing his nose but ugh on your family getting sick.

Well, I am a tad bit of a germaphob. Not that you could tell by my job.... I swear I am constantly getting inoculated when I have to crawl around on floors. :crazy2:

That cheese plate looks great! I thought Remy was gone from les chef's, if he is still there I would be SOOO happy! The boys would get such a kick out of it.

I thought he was too. I was totally not expecting to see him. Hopefully he will come out for you!!!

:rotfl2: yeah... it took me aback too. I don't think it did Ginger or Ashley though. I guess that is part of their southern hospitality showing... maybe up hear in the PNW we are just a tad more stingy. ;) Course, I think in general we all are a bit more cautious when it comes to germs and that type of thing. I remember a trip I took to another state once... watching food being prepared and being completely shocked. Who knew that safe food handling can vary by state? I am far more comfortable when someone who has their hands in my food is wearing gloves, thank you very much.

It was such a great day! Ashley and Ginger definitely know how to enjoy themselves and it is contagious. :goodvibes

Ann your food at Le Chefs de France looks so good! I think they have done away with Remy now? :( The cheese plate looks nice. Hmmm, interesting that strangers were willing to sample her food, lol.

I thought they had done away with him before our trip... but low and behold there he was! Cheese plate did look good. I wish I had tried it. And.. I think that one thing to consider regarding the strangers is that with Ashley and Ginger... people don't stay strangers for long. Those two are very welcoming and inviting. So given that there was a table so close to us that we could have held hands with them... it wasn't long before they were more friendly than not.:goodvibes

I watched like a crazy person, but I hate watching weekly shows... Oh Grey's Anatomy how you are the bane of my existence... Grey's is the only show I will religiously watch within 12 hours of the show airing. Generally on my abc app on my phone. I've been letting 2-3 episodes of Once Upon a Time build up before I watch. :)

Yes, at least semi back to normal now.

LMAO the southern hospitality. It may be some of that, but it might have been the fact that the lady was literally a foot away from Ginger on the bench seating. Had she been taking leftovers home, I doubt she would have made the offer, but I think she figured it was going to get trashed might as well let someone else try it who was drooling over it.

You should have tried that cheese place. Ging is a foodie, but she's a cheesehead. I'm not a super huge fan, but man that was some good cheese.

Okay. So works at least somewhat back to normal. Yay! I'm going to try to shock Ann with 1-2 updates ;)

So I left off on 9/30.

So don't know how many of you remember that Ging and I arrived at our hotel room around 11:30 or so on the 29th. I don't know what was blooming in the area, but Ginger's allergies had started to go a little nuts about an hour before we arrived. No worries she always carries allergy medicine. We finally got to bed. I stayed up a little late... almost 1am waiting for Ann to let me know she was safe in a room.

Well remember those lovely allergies that Ging had acting up? She woke up about 4 or so sneezing her head off. She grabbed more meds, sat up in bed, and started just reading on her tablet to try to let me sleep. I'm a very light sleeper and an insomniac, so I woke up and fiddled around on my phone for a bit. Ging looks over at me and tells me to go back to sleep. I laugh at her, and her exact words were "I know. I know. Once I'm up, I can't go back to sleep either. Are you hungry?" Remember we smelled Burger King at 11:30 the night before as we unpack, but decided to just leave eating till in the morning. "Yep, let's go," was my reply. So up we got, dressed, packed what little we had brought in our overnight bags, and were rolling out the door by about 4:45.

We started driving on the lookout for a MacDonalds, IHOP, or Cracker Barrel. The reason we stopped in Tallahassee versus LAke City is there is literally nothing for an hour but trees. So we proceeded to spend the next hour singing "On the Open Road" the real and Goofy versions and other various Disney songs. We came upon a MickeyD's first, so that's where we stopped.

Where we got Alexa her first souvenir of the trip. Dorothy. This MickeyD's had the BEST biscuits we have ever had. OMG they were so fluffy and warm. Had we not already been back on the road when we discovered this, Ging said she would have gone back for another.
This was outside the MacDonalds. We were very entertained by it.

I started texting Ann around 9 or so I think? But she had no idea where we were. I told her we had just gotten on the road, so we were right on time for our 1:30 or so arrival. Little did she know we were really only 1.5 hours out of Disney instead of the 4+ she thought we had :) As she said, we kept up a running text commentary asking where she was and what she was doing.

We finally saw this! We got to Custom's House and got everything squared away. As we headed to the room, I texted Ann and told her we were probably an hour or so out. This was some time around 11:30 or so. We walked around Building 22... all the way around looking for the elevators. Yep all the planning, and I, at least, had no idea that there were not elevators at CBR! :confused3 Ann got a good chuckle at that later. So instead of the 2 trips we thought it would take to get everything upstairs. It took more like 4. We just pretty much dropped everything and ran for the bus to AK. We had a lady to surprise!

We must have just missed the AK bus. We had a little bit of a wait, but shortly we were on our way.

First "in Disney" picture on the bus!

We hit the gates, and I get a text from Ann saying she's by the front of the park now and just going to head back to CBR. It was an :scared1: moment. I texted back "Stay still. Don't move. Where are you exactly?" or something along those lines. Would have loved to see her face when she read that one. She tells me to the right of the Tree. We hit the V there and there she is standing around looking around. She sees us and a HUGE grin breaks out on her face. I'm quite sure it matched the one on mine. Hugs were definitely exchanged. (All the planning, and I think it was the Friday before we left that I get a text from Ann. "SOooooooo I'm a hugger..... is that okay?" Cracked me up that that was one detail we had yet to talk about.

We caught up for a few minutes on why we were there so early. We had planned to just not enter a park until our 4pm MNSSHP ticket window. It was worth the extra 10$ on the tickets for the surprise and the little park time!

So lunch was discussed. We talked a bit about options, and Flame tree was chosen. I felt like we had vetoed Ann until she said that she really had zero preferences in AK. We generally eat no where but there because of the big filling BBQ portions.
Mine.

Ging's

I kept having a duck bite my toes. It wanted a bite, and no one was sharing. I don't have a picture of the stupid white bird that decided I needed a shower. Like 7 showers actually. He stood on a post behind me and just kept shaking and shaking. No amount of shooing could make him go. :headache:

Oh well.

We discussed a plan for the hour or so we had to kill before we had to run to get ready. Ann mentioned Dinosaur, and yes as we have discussed I had never been. I think it was a once a trip maybe ride. It's very intense. Not scary intense, just very hard on the body. (I'm thinking from a bodyworker's view I guess. I felt tensed the whole time since it was almost pitched black.)
See.. yep. I was a little nervous on it.

We got off and Ann's like wow that was a little intense. Shaking a bit. I told her I was glad she had said something cause I was feeling pitiful for being a bit shaking upon exit!

We found Ging after a round about directional phone call for how to figure out where was best for us to find each other.

We discussed leaving the park, and I requested the Safari once JUST IN CASE we didn't get to ride it Saturday. The Safari is my favorite and only ride I really like in AK. Glad we did :). Ann got a better driver with us. Maybe its that Southern Charm ;)

Loved the 3 baby giraffes that we walking around! Our driver slowed way down, so we could see them and take plenty of pictures!

Then it was time to high tail it to CBR to get ready. I want to say it was like 2:25-2:30 and we had to be at MK for 4. We had to jet!

I love reading the day from your point of view! Such a sneaky girl you are!! I was getting so excited for you to come. i was so happy when you surprised me!!!

The bird was super annoying... but so funny. :rotfl2: Sorry he took such a liking to you. ;)

Dinosaur always seems intense to me...makes me shaky. I know where all the loud parts are... and that it is dark and it isn't that I am scared. It just is so much screaming that I think I end up with too much adrenaline...and it leads to shaky

So glad we went on the safari together. It was SOOO much better. :thumbsup2

My oldest son has never been a fan of Dinosaur because its too loud for him. It's really odd to see a teenage boy not want to ride a thrill ride because of noise. He hasn't been there in years and somehow I doubt his opinion of the ride will change much.

So interesting to see another person's POV on travelling to Disney to meet up with friends!

I agree Dinosaur is hard on a person's body! It makes my stomach a little upset with all the jerking around. Of course I get a bit sick feeling riding a carousel sometimes. :rolleyes1

Hi ladies,
I just found the TR after seeing Ann's running themed PTR. I'm a new RunDisney fan myself, so I'm looking forward to reading about your ToT experience!

Ya never know... I found it far less "threatening" this time. Maybe due to my head being slightly plugged...but overall it seemed less loud.

Traveling with friends is definitely fun! In some ways... so much easier than family. With just the girls, all I had to worry about was me. With my family...had to worry about them too.

I am just back from that trip... soon I will start a TR for that race weekend as well. You should follow along. :goodvibes

Looks like I missed the last update. The execution of the surprise visit to AK from the other point of view was really neat to read about. It is a shame that you guys didn't sleep very well the night before, but it definitely worked out for the best.

And I don't think I've ever seen anyone call the biscuits at any McDonald's the "best biscuits they've ever had." :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Ya know, I am not sure I have ever had just a biscuit at McDonalds.
