OK, so I'm about to break down and order a Baggallini Messenger for our trip, but I can't decide on a color! I want DH to carry it too, so I think pink may be out. My choices are Lime, Periwinkle, Purple, Red, or Turquoise.

Any opinions? How easy is it to clean the Ripstop Nylon? Do the lighter colors get dirty looking?

Thanks!

I just ordered the lime green one myself, and don't know how easy to clean but it sures looks like it will be great for my needs. I just can't wait to use it in September!!:cool1:

Last year I got a pink one from a cute Garden Shop out here. My husband had looked up where to buy one and it turned out that this shop inside of an outside garden place sold them. I went in for black, butthe pink and purple ones were on sale for $14.00!!! I got the pink and my DH said he would be fine if he had to carry it because after all he was with three girls! And of course I am sure the price was also very appealing to him!

Although it may not look like it, it holds a TON of stuff!!

I would have to say that it hasn't gotten very dirty ( I used some wipes once on the strap to get off ice cream that had magically appeared there!) and it really works out great. We have taken it to Disney, the zoo and some other fests. It works out great becuase I hung it from the stroller and then just grabbed it when I was leaving the stroller or wagon behind! At Disney it was great because I could grab it off the stroller quickly and my DH could fold the stroller for the bus. I noticed so many families having to get all there stuff out of the bottom baskets, but most of my stuff fit right inside the bag!

I love how my phone and money is safely inside the pocket in front of me!
It holds a bottle of water on the side if you like...that was great for line waiting or inside a show!

It is totally waterproof which turned out to be a lifesaver when my DD5 and I were on a ride and it began to downpour! There was no where to go, but finish the ride and we were soaked! Everything in my bag was dry which included an extra set of clothes for both girls, diapers, wipes, ziplocs ....you name it if was in there!

It is a great bag and I have recommended it to everyone!!

I bought the LIME on for our trip in June. It was awsome. Just big enough to carry all you need but not to big to lug the stuff you really dont need. My husband carried it the whole time. It did get a little dirty and I have not yet had time to clean it but it looks like it will wash up well.

I really expected to see ALOT of these bags and I was looking but I only saw a few (a black one, a tan one and a red one) stuck out in my mind.

It was a great purchase though- totally recommend it.

I bought the pink one and yep my DH refused carry it, so maybe the lime one. I do have a question for the people that have one... How do you keep the stap from sliding. I contantly have to readjust mine, otherwise I love all the compartments and how lightweight it is.

I had the same problem with mine- just thought I had a bad strap. My DH is a tall man so the strap was perfect for him but if I tried to adjust it it just slipped back.

I have had my messenger bag for 3 years and it is still going strong.
I have even MACHINE WASHED it twice. It comes out looking like new. I machine wash and hang to dry.
I have a red one and LOVE it.

It holds everything I need for when we go to the parks!

When and if this one wears out - I will definitely get another one!

Thanks for the replies. So do you all recommend the ripstop fabric or the crinkle nylon? The crinkle looks a little more "structured" and heavier weight than the ripstop, which I think I'd like.

Ahhh...I'm so bad a decisions! :sad2:

I just ordered a Baggallini messenger bag and was doing some research here on the Disboard (there are tons of threads on this bag, almost as bad as the Croc posts, lol) and found this thread HERE which describes the differences in the fabrics.
Here is the info from the site I linked on the difference in the fabrics. There is also a price difference with each bag depending on what it is made from.

Ripstop: Ripstop is a backed nylon, parachute style fabric, It has a subtle, tone on tone ¼” woven grid pattern – that stops rips. Ripstop has a similar look and feel to the nylon used to make windbreaker jackets and tents. Available in 10 bright colors, black and two patterns. Durable, lightweight, easily cleaned and water resistant.

Crinkle Nylon: Backed nylon, this fabric has a canvas look with a woven textural quality giving it a “crinkle” effect similar to the natural wrinkling of linen. Crinkle nylon, while still casual, is a more sophisticated fashion statement than ripstop nylon. Available in 13 muted, fashion colors. Durable, light weight, water resistant.

Metro Nylon: Similar to crinkle with a higher sheen and slightly heavier construction,
Available in four colors while supplies last.

Microfiber: Microfiber is a polyester fabric that has a very polished and structured appearance. Its light sheen, consistent color and fine weave give it a more sophisticated and formal look than the other fabrications. Available in 8 colors.

Hth... and btw, I ordered the beige Rip Stop one off Ebags.com. I know, boring, but if I happen to be wearing it when a picture is snapped I figure it won't stand out against my clothes (which are mostly light colored) as much. :)

I love that idea! BTW, this is the bag you are all talking about?

That's is the one I ordered, exactly. Interestingly enough though, It just arrived yesterday after my last post and the one I got is the khaki (beige) color but the fabric appears to be the crinkle fabric like this one HERE instead of the Rip Stop. I like it though so I'm keeping it. :) Edit to add: Another way to save money online is to use www.ebates.com I've already got $13 back from shopping through their site. It's pretty cool and it costs you nothing.

So you ordered the rip stop but you got the crinkle? :confused3 How do you like the crinkle material? Is it like a "backpack" canvas-type material? Does it seem a little more "rigid" than the rip stop nylon would be? I worried the rip stop will be too flimsy. Thanks!

Right, I even went back and checked my order and I definitely ordered the Rip Stop which has a sort of grid pattern to it. Mine is a smoother look w/ a subtle crinkle effect in it. I like the look. The fabric is lighweight but sturdy enough to hold its shape. I hope that makes sense. I haven't seen the rip stop fabric IRL so it's hard for me to compare the two.

Thanks for all your replies!

I just ordered the Plum Crinkle Messenger from shoebuy.com for $26! Can't wait to get it and try it out before our DW trip!

Thanks again for your help! :thumbsup2
