Good morning all. Currently we are scheduled for the GCH on Thursday April 28 checking out May 1 with a 3 day hopper starting on Thursday. The Wednesday before we will be staying offsite prior to the DL portion of our California vacation.

I am now thinking about maybe staying onsite on Wednesday to get a quick start in the parks for early entry at DL on Thursday at 8am. For about $100 more than what I am currently paying for Wednesday's accommodations I can stay at Paradise Pier.
If we stay at Paradise Pier on Wednesday will Disney transfer our bags to GCH for us? If this is the case I could drop the rental car off on Wednesday so we can hit the ground running on Thursday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While I do not believe it is common practice for Disney to transfer guests' bags from one of their resorts to another as they do at WDW, you could call and ask the hotel directly. That being said, Paradise Pier is directly across the street from GCH. You could easily move your bags yourself when you are ready to check out of PP, walk across the street and have them store your luggage until your room is ready. If needs be they may allow you to use one of their luggage carts.
I have often times moved from the Hilton to PP. If we have lots of luggage, we have taken a taxi, otherwise we just walk from one to the other with our bags.
I would go ahead and drop off the rental car on Wednesday and be ready to hit the Parks first thing Thursday morning
Have a great time at Walt's Park.

Last May, did a split stay between the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel. They happily took care of the transfer for us. We sent the bags down around 11am spent several hours in the park, went back to the hotel about 4pm and called for our bags. It was a wonderful experience and great service.

We did this exact same thing a couple of years ago and the bell hops at PP had no problem transferring our luggage to GCH.....

Keep in mind the cost of tips for storing luggage. We spent a fortune at GCH with an early checkin (room wasn't ready), a room change (they stored luggage for half a day) and storing bags our checkout day. They wouldn't let us use a luggage carrier without a bellhop present (meaning we needed to tip). With 15 bags between the 5 of us including carry-Ons from our flight plus a booster seat, we were paying minimum $15 a pop every time we had a bellhop appear or bring our bags. It added up quickly.

We're doing this but with DLH to GC. I called and asked a couple of weeks ago and they said, yep, you just let the bell hop know and they transfer your bag. There, they usually take them around 3 in the afternoon and you just call down when you're ready to pick them up and they bring them up for you at your new place.
