I just want to start by saying this site is the most helpfull I have ever experienced... Absolutely love it... you all are great.

We are wondering how will our baggage be handled when we leave. We are flying Southwest and on our last day at DW to come home we booked our return flight for the very last flight out of MCO so we can get a day in before we leave. Our flight leaves at 8:55pm and check out time at POR is 11am. What will we do with our luggage until we go to MCO on the ME bus???? Will the front desk store it somewhere until we are to load on the bus? If this is the case do we handle our baggage to get it on the bus or does the staff at the hotel get it to the bus?

Once we get to MCO do we get our baggage from the bus and take it to the Southwest baggage check-in area? If this is the case do they simply unload it from under the bus and hand it to use and we go on?? What is everyones opinion on IDing the baggage as well??? Is it a good idea to like tie something to the handle to more easily see the bags at claim? Should we tag our luggage with name and address on the outside? I was thinking of putting a print off of our ID info on the inside as well.

A little story...My father last year when he was returning from an Ireland vacation, somehow his one bag got lost which contained his suits. About 2-3 days later he got a call from another traveler at JFK stating he had my Dads bag and asked him if he had his...lol... He of course said no and to put the bag back...lol... About a week later they delivered his bag to his door. Needless to say he was not happy and this story seems to haunt my mind on our baggage during this trip. I just hope our bags make it both ways with us. Our flight is direct both ways BWI to MCO and back.

SW now participates in resort check-in, so you can check it in at the RAC desk in the lobby and they will take it to the airport from there. You will next see it at your home airport baggage claim.

If you wish to handle it yourself, you can check it at the baggage service desk and pick it up before you leave. You would have to carry it out to the bus and then check it in at the SW counter at the airport.

Definitely have your name and address on the outside of the bag.

I'm not sure why. The other passenger had your dad's bag because he TOOK your dad's bag by mistake from the airport. Put something gaudy, unusual, and easily recognizable - identical-colored pom-poms tied to the handles, or wide ribbons wrapped around the handles or around each bag like a strap - on every piece of luggage your party checks.

With so much luggage today appearing so similar, it's somewhat easy to grab the wrong bag. If you have orange-and-purple straps around all your luggage, you'll find it more easily AND other travelers will be less likely to mistake it for theirs.
