Baggage allowance

We're using BA to get us to Heathrow before we fly for a short trip to Washington on Saturday. We only need one suitcase, although it is over the one person BA baggage allowance. WIll this be a problem as one of us has no luggage to check in at all and so split between us we are well within the combined limit, or should be split the luggage between two cases to be on the safe side????

We'll be back in the World next year, this year, besides this childless trip to the US Capital, we're settling for a few days at Legoland!!!

It will make no difference to BA if you one in your party is not using their luggage allowance. They will weight the one case and they could charge excess. However, we have very often been over the limit, not by much, and we have been let off the excess payment.

I would personally split the luggage in two and take two mixed cases, as if the one and only goes missing will be short of clothes for a while!

I would split too. It might be fine but it could depend on whether it's in line with health and safety in relation to how much weight baggage handlers can lift.
