bag for a teen boy to use

I am looking for advice. We plan to go to WDW next year (2019) and my teen son does not want to use a fanny pack. Is there a small bag anyone recommends for a 16 year old to carry? He will need to have a cell phone charger and cord, and a few pins for trading, so it can be a small bag. He has always used a Disney fanny pack in the past trips, but wants something different for the next trip. I think a string backpack is overkill because he won't be carrying much at all, and will be too hot as we will be there in the heat of the summer. I suggested just using cargo shorts, but he doesn't want the pins to poke him if the backs fall off.
Is there a small clip on bag type thing for on a belt loop?

My son uses a drawstring Nike bag he carries as a back pack.

If he won't wear a fanny pack (and who can blame him) he won't likely wear a bag clipped to his belt either. They make these things called "sling bags" which are really just fanny packs that you wear crossbody. I can't think of anything between that size and a string backpack. I think he should put the pins in a small bag and put them in his pocket.

I think a small bag inside of his cargo shorts also, I will suggest it. We like to go bagless if possible, so I will encourage this idea. I hadn't even thought of putting the pins in something small inside his pockets.

I don't think you're going to get a teen boy to carry a purse (from the link above). A string backpack would work perfectly.
Yes, same here. I have a teen boy too, and he prefers the Nike string back pack as shown above. No way would he wear the purse/cross body bag above. But everyone has different taste.

I really like your idea of cargo shorts. There are ways to fix the "poking" problem with the pins though. I have no suggestions to be honest, :lmao: but im sure if you google it you'll find solutions.

I agree, I am not sure what he's thinking he wants to carry. I was trying to find something that looks a bit masculine

My son uses that drawstring bag for everything. When he goes to the basketball courts, if he's hanging at the pool, if he's going to a friends house for a while and wants to take his charger, etc. I call it his "murse." (man purse) :rotfl:

He lives in joggers and basketball shorts so we can't use his pockets.

I was picturing something like a velvet or nylon jewelry type bag. Something just big enough to hold 4-5 pins (assuming the number) but (1) provide an extra barrier in case a back falls off and (2) has a drawstring closure to keep everything from being loose and moving around. I mean, it won't look especially cool if he pulls it out :rotfl: . But it will get the job done.

Good plan!

Either a padded small bag that fits in his cargo shorts for the pins or just place the pins, points out and attach the pin backers to the outside of the pocket, no pin hurt.
The charger, phone and other accessories can be placed in his other cargo pocket; no need for a back pack.

Another vote for a string backpack. When I had my Nephew with me we got him a Disney one at the beginning of the trip and he carried his stuff and a few things for me the entire trip.

I agree, he shouldn't need a bag at all

My 16 year old son just uses his pockets - sometimes he wears cargo shorts. He carries his phone, a fuel rod, and his wallet. I am guessing he would rather die than wear either a fanny pack or backpack.
