Guess that depends on what exactly your taking. I agree I wouldn't want my pockets bulging. With my phone, money clip with id and credit card, a little container of sun screen (that we poured into a travel size container of shampoo), and a bottle of water. Surely not the least bit uncomfortable or annoying. Wore cargo pants the day it was supposed to rain and had a dollar tree poncho in each cargo side and that still wasn't uncomfortable or bulging. If each adult does this with a couple things, I wouldn't think it'd be a big deal and you could save some time waiting to get in. However if you're taking a bag full of stuff (which I personally don't get unless you have an infant), it's probably not going to work.

I would hate having a bottle of water in my pockets. Also, my bag of stuff includes asthma/allergy meds. So yes some without infants do need bags.

I go to WDW a lot with my nephew. What we have done more than once is split up. He doesn't carry a bag, so if the bag check line is long I wave him ahead and tell him to go ride something. We meet up once I am thru. No need for both of us to wait.

With just the two of us, I carry a water bottle on a belt loop, small camera and cell phone in pocket, id's and some cash in lanyard. DH carries dollar store ponchos, meds and wallet. So even if we are ask to empty pockets it's not a big deal.

Unless we see rain clouds, then it's a backpack with heavier ponchos and a towel and of course that means the bag check line.

They call it temporary and it's not open all the time, but it's been around for a while. The picture below show the side gate entrance - this is an older picture cause they now have a metal detector set up there too.

I know where it is. The only metal detectors at MK two months ago were between the normal bag check.

Bag security does nothing to stop attacks before the screening point.

Not sure why you are still arguing the point that it is there and sometimes open. Since Dec 2014 until March 18th of this year I have entered the MK at least 14 times and I can tell you it was open about 50% of the time. Like I posted earlier my DD was selected for screening when we were there on the 18th at the side bag check entrance. Others have also posted entering at this bag check.

The side entrance was open one day in late February when we were there. It was nice walking straight in there, should always be open for non bag guests at least.

It helps to wear clothing that is loose and comfortable. If you want to stuff your pockets, as we often do, to avoid bag check, it helps to wear cargo pants/shorts.

We really try to avoid those bag check lines!
