Bad stay at the All Star Sports Resort

So, I make a post, that proves most of you wrong, and you don't like it so you delete it. That's nice.

One of the things you realize if you read the Resorts board long enough is that every single hotel, from deluxe to moderate to Value to offsite places have very enthusiastic supporters as well as people who hate the place and have vowed to never stay there again. When people post "bad experience at X hotel" types of threads, invariably there are people who love that particular hotel who will rush to the defense of the place and sometimes will question or even "attack" the op, suggesting that the OP must be the problem, not the hotel.... I think people need to accept that everyone has different expectations and encounters different CMs within a place that could affect whether they have a good experience. Its OK if someone likes a place that you hate, and visa-versa - that's life!

With that said, I think that this poster had every right to be upset if she booked a particular view, and view was important to her (which it obviously was) and she didn't get it. I feel badly that she got "attacked' for her views. Hope it goes better the next time around!

I really don't think that's the reason your post was deleted. The vulgarity and your "unique" description of rap music probably had a lot to do with it.

On topic, the experience that the OP had was unacceptable in my opinion. When you book a room/resort and they overbook, it's entirely their fault. To be told you were lucky to get a room is inexcusable. The least they should have done was offer a decent upgrade.

I would highly recommend you write guest services and calmly and politely explain what happened. I have found writing guest services through the WDW website to be very effective and I have yet to be disappointed with the results.

Right.

1st - Webray was entitled to say what he said. It may be 'wrong', you may dislike it, but he's entitled to say it.

2nd - It's not big or clever to demonstrate exactly what the word 'rude' means by putting it into action yourself.

3rd - Instead of everyone piling on a thread in outrage at something that you feel shouldn't be here, and making it worse, you might try the 'Report this post to a Moderator' feature - it's what it's there for. Then we can decide what's appropriate and what's not. We Mods try to read all the threads and keep up with the action - but with the amount of traffic on the Resorts Board, we miss them sometimes. That's where we rely on your eyes as well.

Now - let's spend more time discussing the OP's situation, and spend less time participating in a slanging match. There's no point anyhow - anything else in the vein of what was here earlier will be removed.

Thanks

Bravo, Bravo

I absolutely love your #2 comment, as it has always amazed me on internet boards how many people are guilty of the same thing they accuse others of.

Keep up the excellent work, Disneymad!

I didn't use any vulgarity. I believe there are seven vulgar words, and I didn't use any of them. And that's not my "unique" decription of rap. Ask anyone who actually listens to it what its about. I just speak the truth, yo.

Hi...I'm somewhat new and wonder just what a "preferred" room at All Stars is. How much more do you pay for it? We have stayed at Movies and had a great experience. Just wondering what I'm missing by not knowing about "preferred". Thanks.

A preferred room is in the building closest to the food court and the bus stop.it is 10.00 a night more for a preferred room.
HTH, MISTY

Beckwhy, your post was deleted because the way you made your point was unsuitable for these family boards so I don't really care how many vulgar words you think there are, it's what we deem offensive that counts. These are private boards therefore you play by our rules. Now, should you wish to discuss it further, PM or email me direct where we can discuss it in private, but keep it from the thread please.

Sorry this happened to the OP. However, as someone who enjoys staying at the ASSports, I have two words for you..."football building". Very close and you don't have pay for preferred. The first time we went, there was no such thing as 'preferred' at the value resorts. I agree that the first trip to WDW is a learning experience. I could have gone twice for what my first trip cost me.

I dont know if this is just me or what, but when someone makes a nasty comment, some of you get nasty right back and say not to be. Isnt that just a case of the pot calling the kettle black

Hi all,
I've been a lurker on these boards for awhile but I finally registered today! I want to re-iterate what others have mentioned about writing to Disney to complain! Disney generally, in my experience, been good at fixing Disney boo-boos! However, the key to getting them fixed is to remain calm and courteous. A well-written letter has earned friends of mine a night at the All Stars in the past. A raging December storm ruined Mickey's V.M. Christmas Party for my DH and I on our honeymoon a few months ago. Lots of events were cancelled and we were sopping wet (make a mental note that winter rainstorms in Florida are not as short as the 5 minute summer downpours that are so famous in the area!). We headed out of the MK and got in line at guest services. Lots of people were ranting and raving to the poor CMs in the booths. I walked up, simply asked what they could do for us. After we declined her first suggestion to return to the party (it was thundering at this point), we were offered one day one park tickets for our trouble. As they were worth more than the tickets to the party, we made out in the deal. The next day, we were able to get tickets for the next MVMCP. It was worth the wait. Now we have two disney tickets that will never expire to use at our leisure! So, the moral of my long-winded story is......write them a letter! It can't hurt and it might be worth your while!

I too hope that the OP, KJ, writes to WDW to tell them of this situation. I would hate to think that things like this would be allowed to continue. I have been to many of the resorts and again, have never had this problem, and what happened to the OP should not have happened to anyone. The manager should have fixed this problem to the OP's satisfaction. I hope KJ will share with us once again, if she does get any further responses about this situation from management. I stay at the All Stars a couple of times a year, but also stay at the moderates and deluxes too. I enjoy each resort for their uniqueness. Glad to see the moderators were on top of this thread, and worked hard to keep it on topic!! Thanks

It was very obvious to me when I first read Webray's post that they didn't read the OP's post very well. There were an excessive amount of posts (IMO) pointing this out, though.

Sometimes, when I am replying I forget things in the Original Post and have to scroll down to reread it. Let's extend a little grace to one another- one reminder should be sufficient. I do love you all!

To the OP: How was the rest of your stay??? I hope yu will stay onsite again!

Unfortunately, the tone of some of the comments on this thread is really disappointing. :(

That said, I was sorry to hear about OP's experience at All Star Sports. I hope you do write to Disney. We have enjoyed many stays at this hotel. I hope you'll give it another go! :)

We all basically posted our replies at the same time. At the time I went to reply, no one had responded yet, but by the time I hit "submit reply" so had everyone else.:D

I was one who posted to webray also and I didn't see any replies when I posted. Looking at the times - 7:26, 7:30, 7:30, 7:31, we were all typing at the same time.

Well, this thread sure has drifted from the original topic, so I'm gonna drift some more! Merrywether, let me be the first to "officially" welcome you to the DIS!!! Have fun!

Just to reiterate - all the posts that have remained within this thread are ok - so no-one has to justify themselves. Each of the 40,000+ members are entitled to comment should they so desire! (Though it would probably send the board software into meltdown if they tried to do it all at once, hehehe) All we've ever asked on these boards is to remain respectful of your co-posters :) Oh yeah...and staying on topic would be an added bonus ;)
