Bad stay at the All Star Sports Resort

Webray..read the OP's posts..she did pay for a reserved room..they refunded her the difference upon check in. Why shouldn't she expect and deserve to get it?

If you don't pay for a preferred room...you don't get one...that is it.

In an earlier post, she stated that her credit card was charged for a preferred room, but didn't get it on check in. I would be disappointed too.

I am so sorry that you did not have a magical stay on your first visit. The first time I took my son (his 1st trip), we stayed at ALMo. You handled it bettet than I because I probably would have asked what they could get meat a moderate or delux for the SAME price.

Hope you give onsite another chance. I also think you should write management.

If you decide to contact management, please update us.

Webray, that was a bit harsh. You must have had a bad day...lol.

Yes, Webray just needs a little pixie dust. Everyone that has a bit of extra pixie dust . . . throw it Webray's way. . . . . :D

KJGrilliot, I'm sorry I misunderstood your post, thanks for clearing that up. I thought they just offered you a preferred room, while you paid for a standard room. That is horrible that you booked a preferred room, and paid for a preferred room and then didn't get it. I'm not sure how I or my husband would have handled that--probably not as well as you handled it. I have to say, this has never happened to us, and I hope it doesn't. And to read that is happened to another poster too is crazy. How in the world (not a pun) can they book too many rooms for a particular section like that. I think you deserve an award for not letting it ruin your vacation. I think this is rare (I hope) and hope your next trip runs smoothly.

Wow, I just got into work this morning and read all these reply's. I was hurt by a couple reply's. I apologize if I offended anyone, that was not my intension. I honestly felt I was treated wrongly when I checked in and wondered if anyone else experienced the same thing.

I did book a preferred room and they charged my credit card for a preferred room. I even had the confirmation paper they sent me in the mail and showed it to the CM. It had on the confirmation paper "preferred room".

After I was told they overbooked and the were going to put us in standard room; they than adjusted our bill. But, I still didn't feel like I was treated fairly after driving 2 days from Ohio.

Thanks for everyones concerns, they were greatly appreciated!!

Julie

Julie,
Sometimes the first trip to WDW is a learning experience. I'm sure your next visit will be better. I'm sorry to hear about your disappointments at the AS.

Webray,

Next time before reply something as nasty as you did; read the entire question/comment. If you notice, I said we book and put a deposit down for a preferred room.

I didn't just arrive at the hotel and demand a preferred room. I was offered a preferred room when I called to make the reservation (almost six weeks in advance) and I said yes. She charged my credit card (the deposit) for a preferred room. They mailed me a confirmation letter in the mail (it stated a preferred room). I called 2 days before we were to leave and confirmed that we were in the Surf's Up bldg in a Preferred room. She told me yes too.

So why do you think I didn't deserve the room. As far as the surprise... yeah what a surprise to arrive at the hotel and find out your lucky to get a room at all. That's a great surprise!

What more was I supose to do. I didn't just walk off the street and demand a room. I had a reservation!!!! Doesn't that mean something.

GREAT post kmchar1! I agree with you. I find it really depressing when I read some of the hateful or rude posts on this website. I love the DIS boards because they have helped me save $, meet great people and learn more than most about our disney "addiction". But still, it is so junior high to attack posters who have questions or complaints. I would be really upset if I booked a preferred room and didn't get it.

Sorry your trip began on this down note. Thanks for posting your complaint and most of us are with you 100% percent!

If I got "walked" from the All Stars I would accept anything else on site for the same rate, but I would ask to have my whole stay in the same resort.

Once I was upgraded (from 'Sports to 'Riverside), they sent me the notice months in advance. That was 'Sport's first year and I suppose they either overbooked grossly or hadn't completed enough buildings on time. I also suppose they chose for upgrade first those who booked at rack rates (I wasn't attentive to discounts back then).

I agree, these message boards are a great source of information. I love reading the questions and finding good answers. I learned so much about WDW from these boards. They are great.

Its nice to put a question out there and get answers from people who have already been to WDW. This was my first bad experience, it won't stop me from reading. Sometimes we have to tune out the negative and look on the good side of these boards; because life is just too short.

Thanks for everyone's concerns and reply's.

This is whining for no reason. There are people that have real problems. If you don't pay for a preferred room...you don't get one...that is it.

There is plenty of disney magic...but you have to let it surprise you...you can't beg for it...you will never see it that way.

Sorry you had a bad time...but, you didn't reserve or deserve a preferred room.

 She did pay for a preferred room...this is not whining it was important to them...i think your remarks were very rude! Didn't you read that it was there FIRST trip to disney...cut them some slack

I am a BIG Fan of ALL of the All Stars!!!!! Yep, the ONLY place I stay, WHY??? They save me BIG BUCKS!!! And besides that: Its JUST A ROOM! I stay at Sports ALL the time, and make sure they KNOW this! I get treated as if I was in a Moderate--probably BETTER!;) I also Fax a request 4 days in advance and ask for Building 10 or 11! NO EXTRA CHARGE for this Building, and its MUCH closer to the Food Court!!!;) Hope I helped you out for your next visit!;)

Right.

1st - Webray was entitled to say what he said. It may be 'wrong', you may dislike it, but he's entitled to say it.

2nd - It's not big or clever to demonstrate exactly what the word 'rude' means by putting it into action yourself.

3rd - Instead of everyone piling on a thread in outrage at something that you feel shouldn't be here, and making it worse, you might try the 'Report this post to a Moderator' feature - it's what it's there for. Then we can decide what's appropriate and what's not. We Mods try to read all the threads and keep up with the action - but with the amount of traffic on the Resorts Board, we miss them sometimes. That's where we rely on your eyes as well.

Now - let's spend more time discussing the OP's situation, and spend less time participating in a slanging match. There's no point anyhow - anything else in the vein of what was here earlier will be removed.

Thanks

Penny,

Then aren't we allowed to say how we feel about that post also?

Thanks

Yes you are - just incase you haven't noticed, the one's that didn't turn into a total slanging match have remained. It's not neccessarily about what you say, it how you say it.

I guess because we go to Disney every year that we actually like the All Stars. We usually stay at Music. We have always had a decent check in. Also the rooms that we have had have been absolutely very clean and decent. I have had friends stay also and they liked the rooms. Also the Movies is new so i cant imagine it being run down. I guess everyone expects diff. things on vacation. I would rather go every year then save for a deluxe and only go once. But thats just us. We have friends that have stayed at dif. Disney hotels, you will probably get diff. answers. We had friends stay at the GF , husband is a lawyer, so money no problem,he said it was to stuffy. lol. i would love to try that place. But we will prob. cont. to go to All Stars, or try the Mod. hotels next year. But anyhow, I hope everyone has a GREAT time no matter where you stay .

Im sorry to hear you had a back check in. We have been staying at the Music the last 4 years. We usually go with All Stars cause we go every year. We have been very lucky with this place. The check in was good and the rooms we have had are nice and clean. We really enjoy this place. The food court is good with kids. WE have friends that stayed at GF (husband a lawyer) and he thought it was to STUFFY. lol. i would like to stay there, but not in my budget. lol. I hope you dont let this prevent you from trying it again, if you have to. We might try a Mod. next time, my daughter will be high school. But this summer we will be at the Movies. I think everyone will have an opinion on vacations, so its hard to go by just one persons view. All in all i hope you all had a good week. We will still be at the Movies having fun.
