I have been reading some very bad review for the Royal Pacific hotel. We are booked in at club level for 4 nights later in August. And it is way above my normal budget but i wanted to have a special time there.
the reviews are so bad on TA that i am considering canceling
Any opinions please???

My family stayed there for 6 nights 2 yrs ago and we had a wonderful time. The rooms were very clean and the 4 of us did not feel crammed in, lie we did at Pop Centruy last year. The pool was very relaxing. DS met other kids there and had a good time. I even rented a cabana one day. The service was good also. I can't remember what the restaurants were like, but I really enjoyed the evening snacks on the club level. But best of all, FOTL could not be beat. I felt like I was cheating each and every time we rode MIB, Spiderman, and Cat in the Hat over and over again without waiting. Have a good time at RPR.

I've stayed at RPR the last four years and have enjoyed each visit. I encountered no problems and I'm looking forward to my 3 night stay this year starting on 8/3.

RPR is a wonderful property and I hope you will have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. If, however, you do encounter a problem, it is best to address it with hotel management right then while you are there at the property.

My family has stayed at Royal Pacific too and are doing it again in Nov
Never had any issues with that resort-whatsoever
Loved It :)

Give the hotel a call a few days before you go down to make sure everything is secure with your reservation and the room you reserved. Those are really the only issues that people have been having.

I never take reviews on trip advisor seriously. There are lots of uninformed at simply untrue statements on there. One of the people said that all the rides stop if it rains. That is simply untrue. Others said how bad the restaurants were. There are three excellent restaurants with menus to satisfy anyone. Someone else said it was like a Motel 6. I'd love to see the Motel 6's that they are staying at! Someone else said the pool was just ok. The pool is huge and excellent!

I have stayed at some great hotels that trip advisor patrons have trashed. I would pay more attention to the reports on this board.

Go and have a ball. The rooms are average sized, the hotel ambiance is incredible, you can walk to everything, the food is great and you get unlimited express passes. How bad can that be?

Look at the pictures here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/universal/photos/Royal-Pacific/index.htm and here: http://www.uomeetingsandevents.com/Hotels/Royal_Pacific/Gallery/Gallery.asp

This is exactly what you get.

Thanks everyone feel a bit better about it now.
Cant imagine why people would say bad things about a hotel if it wasn't true.
What's the point?

First of all, they think that something is one way and it really isn't. For example, if you think all the rides close down when it rains, then ya, that is a bad thing. However, it isn't true. The person who said there wasn't anything for preteens to eat surely didn't look at the Jake's menu since it is full of things that youngsters love. Someone said the shops are expensive. Of course they are. It is a theme park!!!

Some people are also incredibly picky to the point of being unreasonable. Somethings that I wouldn't even notice send some people into a panic. Some people just don't want to like Universal and so no matter what, it will come up short.

There are a ton of really good reports on there too. Those ones are more on the mark, IMO. Overall, the ratings from customers give the hotel a 4. That is very high by tripadvisor standards.

Not all hotels are perfect all time...sometimes things DO happen, but you have to talk to mgment then and there...not come back here and complain.... sometimes all doesn't go smoothly, but if you voice your displeasure, usually they will do all they can to make you happy.... sometimes, there is NO making SOME people happy...no matter what! Like damo said, some people LOOK for things to complain about and "linger" on the bad vs. remembering the good!

Also, when things go well, people don't usually rush to tripadvisor to tell everyone. But when things go slightly wrong, you are sure to hear about it.

absolutely....not just w/ TripAdvisor...with these boards and everything else.... ;)

sometimes you have to look at the source that is reporting it.
you do get some guests that didn't like UO parks and relect back with the same attitude to the hotel then.

you will always find somebody that writes negative statements about a hotel.
for some reason, the negative and not the positive statements gnaw at us.

i stayed at rph last year and had a very nice time there.
had a great view of ioa from my room.
beautiful grounds, plenty of places to grab coffee and food there.
all the on site hotels are super. i have stayed at all three.

go and enjoy, make your own opinions on the hotel.

Well if your looking for good reviews this is probably the place to find them. Chances are that most of the people on this board enjoy universal and the "universal" hotels. We stayed at RPH and while we had a great time I wasn't impressed. I expected a little more "deluxe" hotel in general. I wrote a long trip report about all of it sometime ago, so I won't rehash it all here. Overall, the trip was great! We loved Express and the hotel room was very nice. Customer service was lacking, but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. We are going to HRH instead, since RPH left us a little disappointed. It has been about 2 years since our trip, so hopefully the little things we experienced have improved!!

hey duck, you will really enjoy the HRH.

i have been to them all but HRH is my favorite.
only did one stay each at the other two, going on stay 17 this fall at hrh

Wow, I'd love to go there for 17 days :-) We are only there for 4 nights in Sept, but we are going to Clearwater/Disney/Seaworld for 11 in Dec.

I did have a few problems when I stayed at RPR but went to management and they have more than made up for it. I would not stay at another hotel. Granted I haven't stayed at HRH or PBR but after our stay at RPR couldn't imagine trying another hotel. It was beautiful, the staff wonderful and the FOTL was unbelievable. You will love it and not want to return. We were on the 3rd floor but had Club access and wouldn't go again without having the Club benefits. Relax you made a good choice.

We are just back ,and will be staying at RPR again next year, will book once rooms become available.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful, plenty to do around the resort and if you do not want to eat at the resort its a short walk to Citywalk.

I found RPR to be a great resort, especially the pool and the room decor. Staff was very helpful. If you are going at a busy time of year, things will be a little hectic. We will stay there again.
