So yesterday was supposed to be 9 miles. EPIC FAIL! By mile 2 I knew it wasn't happening and quit. So now I need to make up that run. Tell me if you think this would be OK for this week or if I'm nutso?

Today: Run 9 miles
Tuesday: off
Wednesday: of
Thursday: Turkey Trot 5K
Friday: Run 10 miles then drive to WV for the weekend.

I'm ok with the TT on Thursday then the 10 miles the next day. I am not so sure about putting on the 9 miles today. I considered making it 6 miles, but if I do 6 why not do the whole 9?

I usually do 2-3 maintenaince miles 2 days a week then the long run on the weekend so this would be a HUGE jump in weekly mileage.

Thoughts?

I don't know if you need to "make up" the 9 mile run. One missed run won't ruin your plan. I would just continue with the training plan and do today what you were going to do today. Bad runs happen. Your body may just be telling you to take a cut back week.

I'm not a big fan of trying to make up missed miles. Life gets in the way of our runs from time to time, as do our bodies when they let us know that whatever distance we had planned on going is not going to be possible that day. Best thing to do is not worry about it and stick with your training plan. Trying to make up miles is a good way to get injured down the line.

Well, I did decide to run 3-5 miles last night then our maintenance man decided to take 2.5 hours to fix a toilet, fix a closet door and change a light bulb so I ended up not running. So tonight is probably only going to be 3 miles and the TT on Thursday and the long run on Friday.

I think I knew that running so many miles in one week was probably a bad idea. Hopefully the long run on Friday will go smooth.
