Looks like very bad news for any of you UO fans looking forward to additional parks, etc.

Read this article

I was really hoping they would develop that land into themeparks 3 and 4 plus some new resorts.

BUMMER!!:(

Well, that is kind of sad news, but it doesn't say if they will sell them all of the land so maybe it's just part of it?????

I would love to see a new resort or park in the future, but with the economy the way it has been, it may be a while.

As long as they don't take away the great offerings they currently have....:D

My guess is that in this post-9/11 world it will be a long time before we see new parks on the Disney/UO scale in Orlando.

Disney is on record as saying that they will not build another park until the current ones are running at capacity. And WDW attendance is going down, not up.

It looks like UO and Loews will go ahead with a fourth resort, next door to RPR but that probably it.

The real estate deal on the Lockheed Martin property was huge success for Universal. They have already reaped enormous profits on sales of some parcels and look poised to rake in even more. That's moeny that can be used to keep the parks in tip-top competitive shape. So not all is bleak.

That IS sad news...I was really hoping for great things to come from that property...but then again, I did think they had room for a 3rd park on their current land, to the west of IOA behind RPR. I've seen the terraserver maps.

I worry that they won't be able to continue offering fotl access if they keep building hotels. I hope that they do just what you've said Kelly, and that's upkeep of the property that they have already.

That scares me too jalex! Can't wait for anything nowadays!

Chris- I was thinking about that piece of land too, it seems destined for a hotel. But, what if they made it like a Vegas style hotel/ride attraction (on a grander scale... make it a IOA entry too). The rides are all around the hotel, yet they're a part of IOA.
Beats a monorail, I think!

I think we are safe with the FOTL deal. This is one of the ways they will guarantee their hotels staying full. If not, they won't do as well. One more resort I think would be fine. They just need to sell less express passes or take away the machines that offer them for free.

I think golf and tennis courts would be a nice compliment to what is already offered without being competitive. A dinner theater or a Broadway style theater would be nice additions as well. Is there adequate room for a complex to attract a professional sports franchise to do their pre-season camp (the Bucs have camp at the Disney sports complex and the state of FL is crawling with MLB teams during Spring training)? Maybe a paintball course, or some other extreme sports as already mentioned. How about those small race cars that run on tracks? I think these would all enhance the Universal experience and get people to extend their trips at Universal. I'm also concerned that too many on-site hotels will seriously effect FOTL.

I would absolutely LOVE it if they added tennis courts!!!!

But true, if they got rid of FOTL, I wouldn't stay onsite, even though the resorts are nice...I can have a longer vacation if I stay offsite...
