Hi,

Before i go on I want to say I have been a member for 5 years and have 3 memberships with dvc and I love disney.
Usually MS are extremly helpful - however I have just made my ressies for xmas and I have to say I would rather of had my teeth pulled slowly than go through the experience with them again.
Basically I had to call 3 times to try and book my stay - each cast member seemd to have difficulty in understanding that I wanted to borrow points to make my reservation and each time I called I was on hold for between 25-45 mins while they went and tried to decide on whether or not I could borrow my points or not. Eventually it ended up with them having to call me back and then put me on hold for another 15 mins while they confirmed the reservation. I have to say I was very pleased when the confirmation came through in the mail.
I realise that this is not the norm - but whats going on - why is it so difficult sometimes to just make a reservation ??
Maybe I just called on a day when they were training people.

:confused3

I've borrowed nearly all of next year's points at various times during this trip (I am currently planning 3 trips between now and next March)
I had no trouble making and of my reservations. Is there some reason why your points for next year would be in question?

Were you by chance currently in your 2005 use year and trying to borrow 2007 points into your 2006 use year?

Or were you using points that were transferred into your account?

can you give us more info on the type of pts you were using?

bank, transferred , borrowed, rented also what use year the pts were for.

were they banked pts you tried to borrow

Hi everyone,

To be quite honest I cant work it out - I am so confused as to what they told me - but I can tell you my use years.

I have use years of October,March and April - I think I was borrowing my points I will get Next March and April - Is that 2007 points ??

Sorry - usually I can work it out but they made it so confusing.

The points you get in March and April will be '07 points. Did you perhaps borrow some before?

It may also be an issue of having more than one contract. By rule you can't combine the points from multiple contracts for a given night without transferring. You may have run into the transfer rules as well as borrowing rules. Furthermore, you technically can never have more than 3 years of points present in a given contract, so your transfers may have been messing that up too. In general, all these rules can be worked around, but it typically must be done manually and takes some time.

Or, you might be dealing with October points. You could not borrow from October 2007 yet.

If we're dealing with multiple contracts, there are many possibilities. For the Oct Contract, it could be the fact you were trying to borrow from the 2008 use year. The other may be they need to transfer points and they are balking at doing so with borrowed points. You are under the 7 month window so home resort shouldn't be an issue.

Call MS tomorrow, and ask them to go over your reservation with you, so you know which points went toward the reservation, AND TAKE NOTES! You are assuming that MS is keeping track of your points correctly, and that may not be true! It's really easy to lose points when you have three contracts, because having three contracts is confusing. Be persistent, and don't hang up until you understand what they did to get you a reservation at Christmas. :thumbsup2

Go to the member website and all the info about where the points came from for the reservation should be there. It usually shows up nearly immediately. You can see what contracts have points available for each use year.

I was wondering why MS would have any issue with borrowing to the extent that you describe - until you said you have three Use Years.

Obviously that's why you had the long wait - they were trying to figure it out.

So it's not so much a "bad MS experience" but a "bad Multiple Use Year experience".

Which of course is why DVC wants people to have the same Use Year.
