I have scheduled a Crystal Palace character breakfast for the first full day we are there- which happens to be an EMH day.

The reservation is for 8:20- is this a bad idea? Should I move it to another day and just go early for the EMH to get the most out of the rides? Perhaps I can switch to a character lunch instead.

Here's an idea: See if you can change the PS to a little later in the morning. Grab a granola bar or something quick--take advantage of EMH; and then have a relaxing breakfast after 9 or 9:30.

If you do move your reservation--I would make a separate one and then cancel the first one--that way you don't lose out all together.

Additionally--Crystal Palace for Breakfast IMHO is a much better deal than the other meals--they have the best breakfast!!! It's a relaxed way to start the day.

Plus you will still finish in time to catch Fantasyland in its prime (the pre-10am timeframe).

I am not sure if FP is open at that time--but if you get to the park at 8--someone in your party can go get FP for something while you sign in for your PS.

I would just move it to a later time - say 10:00. That way you can still take advantage of EMH, and then have breakfast when it's starting to get crowded. We are doing this on Mother's Day - made the change to a later breakfast when we found out they were having EMH that day. By the time your breakfast is over, many guests will be looking to have lunch, and you can be back on the rides or hopping to another park.

Of course, switching to a character lunch would work, too.

I agree with the other posters. We try to make late breakfast PS. Have a snack in the morning, enjoy the rides, and then your late breakfast will take care of your lunch. Makes good use of your time and money! One time we did this at Park Fare (is that what the GF place is called), though, and they weren't replenishing the breakfast food as well as other times that we've done this. Maybe take a seating that is 1/2 hour before the last seating time to avoid that problem.

Well I already have a PS at Liberty Tree Tavern for 1pm- but no characters there at lunch time.

I thought I had my day perfectly planned- yeesh!

This EMH really screws up the plans I made.

I had planned to have breakfast at 8:20 (thinking the park opens at 9) finish up just a little after 9, still have a jump on the crowds, get in the major attractions and be over in Frontierland by afternoon, have lunch at Liberty Tree and then decide if its too crowded, if we should go to the resort for a swim and then switch to another park.
If the park now opens at 8, and our PS is 8:20 (couldnt get it any earlier-they are booked) will this have a large impact on lines for rides? Will I be throwing away a perfect opportunity to get alot done (with no lines) early in the morning?

edited to add: BrianMonk- thank you for the links, they were helpful to read and I have a better idea of what to do- certainly switching to a later morning is a good option. I think I will forfeit the lunch ressie at Liberty Tree. Or leave it for now and decide later.

we were there in march, and we did breakfast at crystal palace at 8:05 and the park opened at 9:00 and we were standing at the rope on the otherside of the castle that goes into fantasyland when the park opened and we rode peter pan, it's a small world, dumbo, winnie the pooh, snow white, and in the mean time had gotten a fast pass for philharmagic for during this time and finished in about 35-40 minutes tops. it was the best thing we've ever done. we just beat the crowd and it was great. we then did haunted mansion, thunder mountain railroad, splash mountain, pirates of the carribbean and jungle cruise by lunch. we then went and got lunch and took a swim back at the resort and came back and did everything else in the afternoon, plus some things we had already done. i will always do this in the future.

We just returned from our trip last week. We had PS at cindy's at 8:25 on our first day there which was a Sunday - EMH at the MK. I was a bit concerned about this, but it all worked out fine. We ate, were done before 9, went over to Space mountain and got fast passes for it. The fast passes were for about an hour later. We went on Buzz Lightyear ( about a 10 minute wait), Carosel or Progress, the race cars ( about a 20 minute wait ) and then over to Space Mountain. All in all a pretty productive morning. We were planning more, but Splash mountain closed down which threw our plan into chaos. We went to the Haunted Mansion, very little wait and then left the park to go to Epcot. The parks were all pretty crowded, but we still never stood in line for much more than 30 minutes for the whole week.
