Bad Experience with Transportation Sales Co.

I just wanted to give a heads up to a bad experience my sister and 3 other family members had when they organized to be picked up at Bay Lake Tower Resort last Friday at 4:30am for a 6:40am flight out of the Sanford airport on an Allegiant flight. No one showed up from the company, Transportation Sales, and when my sister called them on the phone to see where they were no one answered. She just got an answering machine. Fortunately, I had my car there and was able to drive them to the airport where they just made their flight after they continued to wait for them awhile. It was a stressful situation and not a good way to end the vacation. She told me she has been able to get the money back on her credit card, but I thought I should post what happened here so others can stay away from this unreliable company.

How awful. They must have been so stressed and worried they would miss there flight!

thank you for sharing that.

They were very lucky you were there...BUT in reality they were cutting it really close weren't they? Less than two hours before a flight. Even a that early hour issues can come up....unexpected traffic, unexpected lines at the airport, etc. Isn't it about a 45 minute drive minimum to the airport?
Glad they made it!

Whoops. I'm sorry, I tried to edit this post, but messed up. Their actual flight time was 6:40am, not 6:20 as I originally posted.
As it turned out, their plane got delayed for maintenance issues, but the flight status was showing as "on time". To complicate matters, I made a wrong turn on the way to the airport that set us back another 10 minutes. Too close for comfort!

Did they call the day before and confirm that someone would be there to pick them up?

That's still just a little over 2 hours and much too close to the departure time to be getting picked up. It's generally recommended that you arrive at the airport 2 hours before the flight is due to leave, and they were expecting to get picked up 2 hours before flight time.

Yes, it was probably cutting it too close to begin with, but the real issue is that this company failed to honor their commitment; not the fact the family should have allowed more time. From what I read, Transportation Sales Co. just never showed up . . . period. Not a great way to run a transportation company.

Sanford airport is way smaller and easier to negotiate than MCO. No way would you need to get there 2 hrs. ahead of time.:rolleyes1

Personally, for me (having nearly missed a flight once and not wanting to experience that again), I don't care what airport I'm leaving from. I am making my plans to walk into those doors at least 2 hours before my flight.

I would rather be bored out of my skull at the gate than end up running down the hallway, shoes coming off because I couldn't tie them again and pants falling down b/c of no belt....

I'm with you. :thumbsup2 Nice mental image, by the way. ;)
