We just returned from a trip where we used Hertz for the first time. I had made the reservation over the phone and specifically verified the price I was given was for all 3 days even though we were to have the car for 2 weekend days and Monday. I was told that my total would be "about $108" and that included all taxes and airport fees. I reconfirmed all of this information several weeks later and, again, verified that all fees/taxes were included. So, we turn the car in and we're charged $32 more than I was quoted. While this is not a huge amount of money I did question the difference and I was dismissed with " well then, they calculated wrong". I explained that I had confirmed and reconfirmed the information and I was told that I'd gotten a great rate and I should "run with it". Wow, what great customer service. Anyway, a lesson learned and I guess it's back to National for us. Thanks for letting me vent and sorry so long!

I use the internet to make my Hertz reservations and print it out. It prints out all the charges that apply.

I'm Gold Club and am entitled to a free upgrade to the next level when a car is available. The last time I rented, they didn't have a car. However they had one two levels up. The counter man said I could have it for ten dollars more. I verified he didn't mean per day and had him notate that on the contract ( it was a one way rental). Good thing I did, because when I turned it in they wanted to charge me $10.00 per day. I showed her the notation and was charged only $10.00. There was no argument.

I am sorry to hear what happened. I would take it up with Hertz on their 800 number. They are very good at handling problems like this.

I prefer to reserve online because then I have proof of the rates I was quoted.

Hertz makes mistakes like the other agencies do. Give them a chance to make it right.
