Bad experience/meal at WDW Restraunt. Have/Will you give it a 2nd try or not?

Totally depends. If the food and service is bad probably will not go back. If some food is not great, i go back. If service is bad, i go back.

One of my first experiences was Flying Fish. I can not remember what i had but I didn't care for it. It took me awhile to try it again and now, it is my must do! I highly recommend it.

O'hana I've had good and bad experiences. Its on my not to return list, for now. Food quality declined a bit each trip as did the service so I'm just not excited for it.

Tony's Toon Town or whatever its called. No way. The food was horrible and the service was a disaster.

Just wondering what my fellow DIS'ers do when they have had either a bad experience or Bad meal. Do you give it another try; or do you move on and never go back to it. I have done both. at O'Hana I have had alternating times of bad service, then great meal and service, followed by bad food and then great meal and service. Will keep going back. Now ar Big River Grill i had both bad service and lousy food and will neve god back there.

I too have had a really horrible meal at Big River and I will not go back there.

Not because I don't give places a second chance, its just that there are so many other places on the Boardwalk where I have had a nice meal.

Resort dining is a little different, in that if I'm staying there, I might go back for the mere convenience. I also think people (including me) are more likely to go back if the FIRST meal is good and the second is bad. We think its an aberation and are willing to try again.

I have had only two experiences that I considered bad at WDW restaurants. Hollywood and Vine: not horrible just so noisy and crowded and we love Sci fi and Prime Time so much we stick with those now.

California Grill: My pork tenderloin was blood raw, I asked to have it sent back and the waitress informed me "oh people your age don't realize you can eat pork rare". Whatever, I don't eat any meat rare. And at 40, she made me feel like I was a senior citizen! That plus the noise and a one hour wait past ADR time swore me off the place. Again, just other places I like better that are less expensive. I may try that one again someday but it will be awhile.

There's so many places we love at WDW, we have a hard enough time fitting them so every trip we have to ax something we love, so why ax another to give one of those two another chance?

We had a bad experiece at H&V Play & Dine. It was nothing to do with the characters and the food was fine. It was with our waitress. She was just awful and it left a really sour taste in our mouth. I still get upset when I think about it.
But we are going back. The kids loved it and as I said, the food was fine. We want to make some better memories for ourselves.

Our's was Coral Reef. The food was good, the server not so good. He wouldn't get the chef (niece is lactose intollerant) so I was scrambling to find something on the menu she could and would eat. I had to ask for a refill on the pop but still waited ages for it. Didn't get a dessert for my niece (got mixed up as I switched out food that she could/would eat) when we all ordered ours.

I would give Coral Reef another chance, but not sure if I will this time as there are so many other places to try.

Actually, I forgot at CRT-we had paid (DDP) and I was trying to get my niece to eat her waffle and the server took both our plates away. I don't think she had even taken one bite of waffle.

I have had bad or less than stellar experiences at only 3 locations.

Le Cellier 2003 with the CP dinner package. The food was awesome, but the service was lacking. The service was overall way too slow and the restaurant was no where close to even being 1/2 full at the time. However at the end, the server without asking first yanked my plate off the table, which I was not done with, and said "All done?" to which I said, "Well, I guess I am now." :sad2: It took me 5 years to give the restaurant another try. I am happy to report that it redeemed itself. I had an awesome meal there last month. :thumbsup2

That happened to us in Sept at Kona Cafe for dinner. This server was awful!!!!!!! When he was taking our order, he wasn't even looking at us, I'm certain he never even looked at us the entire time, for all he knew I could been Britney Spears :) And as we were ready to order our dessert, he took my plate away with some brocolini still left and a fork still in my hand. :snooty:

The only restaurant on our list of "never going back to" is Coral Reef. Bad food, poor selection and horrible service.

She must have been quite bad. I mean, its a buffet.....You get your own food. :rotfl2:

Did the plates stack up to the ceiling or did she forget the coffee :scared1: which I for one need asap.

This is not one of my favorites either, but my son looooooves Little Einsteins so we have done this our last 2 visits. I still think the interaction is better than any other character bf because they can get up and dance with them.

Hope you have a better time next time.:goodvibes

This was almost our same experience at Le Cellier. I ordered my prime rib medium rare (always order my meat done that way so I know what it is) and it came out raw..the bottom wasn't even cooked. I told the waiter and he informed me that the meat was slow roasted for 3 hours. Then when I still asked him to take it back, he told me that medium rare is a warm pink center. I know, just take it back. I felt like I was being talked down to. They should just say, ok, sorry, not a problem, I will take it back. Why do they feel that we are new travelers that have never been out of the house before?? :confused3

Probably not for a while.

We had a horrible experience at Tusker House for breakfast last trip. We were ignored by our server and a couple of the characters. I made this reservation because DH loves Donald and I wanted to make sure we met him. We did meet Donald bust Daisy skipped over us all together (and maybe Minnie or some other character) and our waiter ignored us while he doted on his tables with children. (It was just DH and I, no kids) It was so bad I ended up crying so I am in no hurry to go back! I am very interested in their dinner because I have heard so many good things, but when I think about going there, I think of how bad it was and it makes me less than enthusiastic about going back.

Being kind of a redemptive soul, I'm willing to give places a second shot.

Having said that ... the ABC Commissary at DHS is one that I'd be less than excited to revisit. I'm not picky, really I'm not, but in the last two tries I've been underwhelmed.

The ONLY other spotty experience I've had was at the old Concourse Steakhouse, and I think that had more to do with the fact that it was New Year's Eve than anything else. Oh, and Pepper Market, on the same trip, on New Year's Day. There is a 10% gratuity added, which I don't have any problem with, provided I get SOME kind of service. But we weren't checked on at all the whole time we were seated.

The rest of that story ... I just gently mentioned to the cashier that we hadn't received any service, hadn't even seen a server, etc. She promptly called for a manager, who wanted to know where we were seated. I didn't want to get anyone in trouble, but he insisted. Not only did he remove the 10% gratuity, he comped us on everything but our drinks.

Man, I love it when cast members are empowered to make things right. I was delighted and so pleased. I don't think I could get the rest of the fam back to Pepper Market, but I'd give it another shot.

Not that I'm a paragon of virtue, but sometimes, a polite request will do wonders.

There are so many restaurants we want to try, and we get to go so rarely that if we've had a bad experience I pretty much knock a place off the list and move on to try something new. We will be going back to 'Ohana because we loved it when we were there a few years ago. Otherwise, we're trying all new-to-us places on our next trip.

I will give them a second chance. Every restaurant I am critical of here on the dis (H&V, Cape May, Chef Mickey's, CRT and WCC ... ) I have eaten at at least twice, usually more. A consistent pattern is what I notice. Every restaurant can have an off night.

For us, it depends. If a restaurant has terrible food(meaning no one in our family liked their food) and service, then we probably wouldn't return. But sometimes it's just a bad day or server so we may try it again. I know the first couple of times we ate at 1900 PF we had great food/service and then we ate there on Thanksgiving 2007 and had terrible service and ok food. We decided to give it another try in July 2008 and we had great food/service again so it's back on our :thumbsup2 list.

We also tried Sci Fi and had horrible service and my burger was raw:eek: (I ordered Medium Well)but I liked the atmosphere and everyone else, except DD who's burger was also raw liked their food so we will try it one more time.

The only place we have vowed never to eat at again was the counter service place in Mexico in Epcot. Service doesn't apply here but my whole family thought the food was gross so it's off our list for good. No second chances here!

It depends on the restaurant and our experience there. We won't be going back to Flying Fish, the food was bad, the waiter was bad and it just left a bad feeling for the restaurant in both my and DH's mind. There are a number of other seafood restaurants that we like at Disney and we'd rather go there then risk trying Flying Fish again.

We will likely go back to CRT when DS and bean are old enough to appreciate it, the food was bland and boring, but the experience is just nice and we've always had a good experience with the waiters. That being said, not putting it on our list any time soon, because the experience is the only reason we would go back.

We won't be going back to Boma, we actually had an amazing waiter, and the chef made DH a special meal, but the buffet itself was not to our tastes, it was really boring. We were expecting a lot more from this restaurant I think then was fair, but with the numerous other restaurants available to us, we'd rather go somewhere else, then go here with food that just wasn't that appealing, and we are very adventurous eaters, Boma just felt like it was trying to hard, and not succeeding. That being said, we'd go back if we were going with family or friends who were interested in it, because it wasn't bad, just wasn't exciting.

We will be going back to Coral Reef even though our food last time was meh. It is just a good choice for keeping DS entertained since he loves fish. That being said, if it was just DH and me we won't be returning. The atmosphere of the restaurant however is decent enough to make it a worthwhile stop of us even with meh food.

There are a lot of restaurants we know we like, and a number we'd like to try, so unless there is a good reason, we won't go back to somewhere we weren't overly impressed with.
