I've typed a long involved review of Cypress point and I keep on getting an error. I will fill you all in later, but it was horrible checkin, noisy neighbors, and extremely rowdy teenagers in the pool.

I will be anxious to read it but I hope that you are not blaming noisy neighbors for instance on the resort?

Well, loud music until after midnight from a second floor neighbor, being awaken at 2 am by a screaming baby and rapid fire cursing in Spanish was just the neighbors.

My checkout horror story is as follows:

We returned on 9/3 from an extended trip to Orlando. The first week we stayed at Cypress point Phase I via hotelkingdom.com. We booked it back in February at the lower rate than current rates.

I will rate the good, the bad and ugly.

The Good: The space in the two bedroom villa was very nice. I liked the idea of a full kitchen, a washer/dryer, and the Jacuzzi in the master bathroom. The kitchen was fully equipped with in some instances more things than my own kitchen. The distance to Disney property was very close, and there were many restaurants nearby.

The bad:

It took over an hour and a half for check in. We requested first floor, non smoking. We arrived after a 17 hour drive at 10 am on check in day. We arrived there was no lines at check in. We were given by a desk clerk with no name tag unit 3101A. We went to unit and the lock wasn't working. This desk clerk who looked new and his English wasn't that great apologized and "fixed" the card. So, now here we are back to the unit a 2nd time. It still wasn't working. So, here we are back to the desk a 3rd time. Now they give us unit 5308, 3rd floor. We drive over to bldg 5, and hike up to the 3rdfloor. We walk in and CHOKE on the smoke smell in this room. Of course, this will not work.

So back to the desk a 4th time, and tell them this. The desk guy refused to get security to fix the lock of 3101, and also refused to give a manager. At this point it is an hour and a half later and we are ready to get a refund for the stay and find somewhere else to stay. Suddenly the desk guy finds another 1st floor unit, 3102A. At this point we are thrilled to finally have a place to go, so we take it.

We go in and this unit is smoking. At least it doesn’t at least smell like it throughout the unit, it smells only in the porch area. We didn’t go outside on the porch at all.

The ugly:

After the front desk fiasco, we were very upset. Some other problems we encountered were:

1) Extremely loud neighbors. More than once, I woke up at 2 am with screaming babies and rapid fire loud shouting in Spanish. My kids could not sleep in the two bed room, because of the noise. I went in their room just to see if it was noisy, and it was. If it wasn’t the people shouting, there were people tromping on the stairs, and if it wasn’t that, there was someone who was playing loud salsa music until after midnight.

2) Extreme rowdiness in the pools. There of course, is no lifeguards, so it’s a pretty much free for all. There were too many teenagers dunking, playing chicken and throwing others into the pool. There also were problems with people goofing around on the slide. This place really needs lifeguards. I worried about my kids safety at night, and pulled them out early.

3) Definite crowding of the resort as our stay went longer. It seemed on our last Thursday, Friday and Saturday it was very very crowded. There weren’t many parking spaces left and one time we were blocked by another car since they took it upon themselves to just make up a parking spot which in turn blocked two cars in. Another time we were blocked in by a maintenance golf cart.

In short, we won’t go here again. We will stay offsite at other properties, but not this one.

In my opinion the only things you can really blame on the resort are the checkin problems..not many timeshares in Orlando have lifeguards and its up to parents to control their kids..loudness of neighbors and parking etc. because the resort is busy isnt really something to blame on the resort..this is just my opinion as I sometimes think people blame hotels or resorts for things that are not necessarily the resorts/hotels fault. I think had you called and complained about the noise they may have tried to do something about it- same with the rowdy kids by the pool.

I am soooo sorry you had a bad stay. It is frustrating when a long planned for and anticipated trip is so disappointing. Hopefully, your second week was better. We have stayed at this resort previously and were very happy with it. I did notice though that several of the employees were very hard to understand. I really think if you are going to be in customer service that you need to be able to be understood. Unbelieveable that they wouldn't get a manager for you at check in when you asked!

I agree that there needs to be some hotel staff around the pools. A lot of times these teens are there totally unsupervised by their parents who apparently don't know that their kids don't behave when they are not around. For the loud neighbors, I would have called and complained. And now that you mention it, I had forgotten that I felt like that room with the twin beds was just sort of sticking out there on its own and was a bit loud. Luckily my kids go to bed early and sleep like the dead once they are sleeping.

Anyway, I am glad you posted your report. I think sometimes people are worried about posting the negatives because others will say that couldn't have happened and get all defensive, but it is so important for us to know the good and the bad.

Sorry to hear about your stay. Nothing can get me more upset than impolite people who don't consider other people at all. The baby can't help it, but the other stuff is inexcusable. I do agree though, it's not really the resorts fault.

and the noise level at night is another reason I will be bringing my fan again. People laugh at me, but at least I get a good nights sleep. I gotta have that "white noise". :goodvibes

I just want to clarify that I never said this couldnt have happened..I believe it did. I just wanted to point out where the blame lay for some of the stuff
:goodvibes

So sorry to hear about your stay. We stayed here last February and while we thought the units were terrific - newly renovated, we found the resort to be extremely noisy also. The walls are paper thin and you can literally hear someone talking in the next room or the floor above you. Since we are all light sleepers that was a big problem. After a busy day in the parks, the kids need a good night sleep and that was hard to come by.

We also found the front desk to be a little clueless and had to keep going back for our unit key to work as well.

But....for the price we paid - something like $90 for a 3 bedroom with all taxes, it was ok.

I guess I've become spoiled with all the other wonderful resorts we've stayed at in Orlando.

Poor soundproofing is a valid complaint of the property.

Thanks for posting! It's always good to know about problems at a resort. The no staff at the pool thing is an issue for us, especially at the main pool.

Probably the only thing that I wouldn't mention if writing a complaint letter is the baby crying. There's not much anyone (except the parents) can do about that).

Lewis: We have stayed at most of the timeshares in Orlando and honestly they are all about the same as far as soundproofing..heck we heard stuff at Disney resorts so to try to say that its this resorts "problem" is not totally correct as its a 'problem' for many in the area.

Want to point out that RCI just granted Cypress Pointe Gold Crown status so it cant be all that bad!

I completely understand the baby crying as well. I have kids and have been there. However, the noise was horrible. I've lived in apartments/codos/townhouses for most of my adult life so I know how to be considerate. Its a shame others want to shout and scream at 2 am!

Also the surround sound in the main room was for the DVD only, not the cable TV. If you didn't bring DVDs, you couldn't use the surround sound.

Also just because there are no set parking spot near your building should you put it upon yourself to block others in?

We couldn't leave because of some inconsiderate person. At least the employee moved the cart.

Thank you for posting, I like hearing about all experiences the good, bad and the ugly!

I wonder if the Grand Villas will have some of the same problems. Anyone been to both and can tell us some differences?? WE will be there in Dec.. Hoping everything goes OK.

But for $31.42 a night (thru SA), I really won't be able to complain too much. :earboy2:

ANd I totally agree. I like to hear it all, even though sometimes it can really discourage me. Better that I know ahead of time, though, than find out once I get there. :dog:

I thought of another good thing. I guess the staff knew that we were upset and angry, so we didn't get any sales pitch stuff sent to us. We only had the phone ring once, and we didn't answer it.

The room was nice, the unit was beautiful, but the staff/neighbors/other guests made it horrible.

We have Cypress Pointe booked for Dec. Before we booked I thought I had read everything posted on this site about CP and don't recall reading about the paper thin walls and big noise problem. Is this a widespread experience or an isolated experience? At this point I don't think I would change locations, but I like knowing what I'm walking in to. Thanks

chris: Like I said to be honest the majority of the timeshares and hotels in Orlando have some noise problems. It is not just Cypress Pointe. We heard alot at a Disney hotel and we have heard alot at other timeshares. I wouldnt worry about staying there if that is your only worry because it could just as easily happen somewhere else.

My best suggestion if it does happen is to let someone know and they will usually go talk to them

Sorry to hear you had a bad stay. We stayed at CPGV via hotelkingdom for the first time Aug. 25-28th and had no problems. We checked in early with no waiting, had a room on the fifth/top floor (view of the parking lot, no biggie, very clean), everything was pretty quiet.

Heard the neighbors once through the connecting door. One thing I ALWAYS do for hotel stays is to pack a white noise machine--it can really make all the difference.

We used the smaller pool since our room was closer to it, and while there were people and kids playing in it, overall I felt it was safe enough--there were some rowdy kids but they stayed at the other end of the pool; lots of parents and families around probably helped too.

We noticed that the parking lot was much fuller at night, but were able to find spaces. I would have been livid if some car had blocked me in like that---did you call the front desk? I know our car had to have the hangtag for parking, so it seems that they could have contacted the owner to move his car.

For the price, I'd stay there again. It wasn't perfect, but at least okay for us. Again, sorry to hear of your experience.

We thought of trying the smalled CPGV pools, but the main pool was closer (bldg 3 is very close to checkin)

One day the pool behavior wasn't too bad, but as the week went on, it was worse and worse.
