lovetoscrap I loved that story! Very cool.

And I would not have thought to move away either I would have been to blown away by seeing the behind the magic stuff happening.

Luckily, lovetoscrap wasn't "blown away" by anything but the excitement.

We were in Epcot 2011 and we had just gone thought the world showcase entrance as we were close to UK a men approached us he was wearing a polo, shorts and a hat. He asked politely if DH could lift his shirt. Dh and I started laughing, because we were just talking about it. Dh said to him that he wanted his job. He asked him if he was a police officer. DH told him what he does in the military and he told him they can use someone like him and that he should apply and then he left. We actually consider it, but we decided we will try once he retires from the military.

I'm trying to visualize this. Why did the security guard or police officer stop your husband and ask him to lift up his shirt?

I believe you are exactly right.

A decade ago, we were at WDW with a friend and his family. We hadn't been in MK but a couple minutes when an individual walked up close to my friend and I. Then I noticed two more right behind us. He was WDW Security and he asked my friend if he was armed. He was carrying a 9 mm under his jacket. He told the officer that he was and identified himself. He is a federal officer.

He was led back to the gate where they allowed him to secure his weapon. They were very polite, very professional. I was conversing with one of the security people who remained behind. He told me that they are trained to observe the way a person is standing, the way they walk, they way they lean. All indicated that my friend was carrying a sidearm under his jacket. I was very impressed.

The next morning as we were all getting ready to leave for the parks, I asked him if he left the weapon behind. He told me that he had but felt naked. It goes pants, belt, weapon... When we got to MK we saw one of those same guys at near the bag check. He made eye contact and my friend shook his head. No need for words.

It's interesting to see how long this incident went on given the fact that this guy was obviously impaired and was getting into a physical fight with the "security" (more like a rent-a-cop than real security from the looks of him) guy. With all the stories on here of the now-you-see-them now-you-don't incidents of security coming out of nowhere and escorting the offenders away for things that are not as bad as this in terms of physicality (like the whackado with the foil hat), you would think that guys with the earpieces would have been coming out of the woodwork for this guy. I wonder why that didn't happen?

Now I'm going to have to be on the lookout for any Disney security on our next trip. I never noticed them before, but I admit that I was not looking.

The cast member with the pepper spray is a Disneyland Resort Security Officer. The uniformed ones are all over the place.

The issue is this guy could be a predator. That he would take a picture of a random kid then run when he knows the kids father saw it is defintely suspicous and I feel the OP's actions are completely warranted. Who knows what other photos were on the phone? Bathroom photos of kids, waterpark photos of kids, or maybe he was looking to do more if he had the opportunity on a dark ride to a kid with no parent there. It couldve been nothing but I think based on the facts the OP shared, his reaction was completely warranted, and needed to be looked into with no further story needed. Where was this photo takers parents? Maybe he just looked like he was 15 Maybe he is 15 and it does not matter. Kid could have issues.

This story is extremely creepy to me as I had a similar experience.

My daughters were playing in the "main" sprinkler at Epcot, in the walkway straight down the middle. As per usual, we bring bathing suits most times when we know we'll be letting them do that. There were a bunch of other children there though in various attire ranging from fully clothed to a baby boy in only a diaper and a 2 or 3 year old girl in only underwear (ugh.) Well a man came up with a professional looking camera and began taking pics. He was smiling and getting all sorts of different angles and a cast member walked up and told him he would need to stop. As the conversation progressed, there were at least 5 suits and a few "tourists" gathered around and the realization came to be that it was a CM that worked there, from China. From what I could tell, they did look through the pics but I didn't see them confiscate the film (and it did not look like a digital camera.)

By the end of it, the guy wasn't in trouble but I was totally sickened and still felt it was wrong. Even if he was taking pics of Epcot for back home or something and truly embracing the innocent moment of children playing in a water fountain, I felt uneasy about it.

I find it a bit insulting the way every male with a camera is viewed as a "predator." Some of us just like photography and the Disney resorts, both in California and Florida have a wealth of cool things to photograph. Besides, in a theme park, it's nigh impossible to take a photo without having kids in it, although I work pretty hard to take pictures with no people in them.

Okay... if it wasn't a digital camera then there's no way anyone could "look through the pics". Film has to be developed in order to be viewed. Only digital cameras allow previews. I'm guessing if they previewed his photos, they found nothing offensive.

Also, while it is not the culture in the United States to take pictures of other people's children, because of exactly your reaction ("a 2 or 3 year old girl in only underwear (ugh.)" "uneasy" "sickened"), in many parts of the world people don't see the problem with taking photos of children playing. Sometimes they even post them online.

Google "Casey Jr. Splash and Soak" and you'll see plenty, mostly from bloggers and news sources (some of which will have had proper media releases, some of which won't).

One of the reasons serious photographers don't take pictures of kids in situations like this is because of the possibility that some busybody do-gooder will report them to the authorities. Parents can't even take pictures of their own children in the bath tub for fear the clerk at Walmart will report them to the police. It's gotten out of hand.

On the Disney Cruise my wife and went on last year, there were a few people that looked at us a little strangely because we didn't have any children with us. I can just imagine what they were thinking.

I've had this happen to me a couple times!! Once I was actually wearing an FOP shirt so I understand that. But the other time I didn't have anything ID'ing me as a cop. I think it's kind of funny. DF not so much. Of course she works for the FBI and I'm just a local guy.
