I may be alone in this, but I have to say that the thing that bothers me most is when people use "I paid a lot of money to be here" as an excuse to behave poorly. I'm sorry, but it's Disney! EVERYONE paid a lot of money to be here. Staying in a deluxe hotel instead of value resort in no way makes you better or more deserving of a good time. If we all practice a bit of basic courtesy, mind our little drlings and make sure they use their manners, and basically be kind to our fellow vacationers, imagine how much fun EVERYONE would have? :joker:

I have to agree... last time we were waiting in line to be serve at a counter service restaurant for lunch (can't remember which) and the man in front was frustrated because he had to wait his turn.. and was complaining to the other person with him... and the famous line... Paid a lot of money to be here and they can't put extra people on the floor... what do they do with all that money... and on and on and on... when he looked at me for confirmation or something, I just rolled my eyes at him and told my hubby, I don't know why people come here if they are in such stress... we are all waiting and still having a great time, making new friends in line and joking around... he then, shut up and was more courteous after that... ha! ha! :sad2:

I'm sorry but was there something in particular that caused you to ponder these issues? :confused3 I'm sure everyone appreciates tha "Be Courteous" speech, I'm just not sure why you are offering it on this board.

It's because I have seen this used as a recurring theme throughout the site as a reason for nasty comments about other guests, their excuse not to tip employees whatever. my trip upcoming is costing me over $7k before I even walk out the door, but guess what- I'll still tip, I'll still wait my turn in line, and I'll say excuse me or I'm sorry when necessary, and my children will be expected to behave. That would be why.

It's not just at counter service locations where people act like the whole world revolves around them. I have seen people complain about waiting in line to meet characters, standing in line for attractions & for other things & they say the classic comment we are paying so much money for this trip. Well just because my family & I always stay at the Contemporary we don't use that as an excuse to get to the front of the line. We do realize that at some point while at WDW we will be lines, but we come to expect that. I am just happy to be there & if we need to wait then so be it. It sucks that there are people like this with selfish attitudes who go to WDW thinking they can get what they want by saying they are paying so much, so we just learn to ignore these types of people & enjoy our own vacations.

It isn't just WDW that some people think the world revolves around them. Try working 8 hours at a grocery store during the holidays. Yes service employees are there to serve you but not be your servant. Since I started working as a grocery store pharmacy tech I have seen far too many people think the world is at their feet and everyone had better do what they want or else. That is why is is so nice to get to go to WDW once a year so I to ignore those folks and just have myself a good time because it is the one time a year I can ignore them. Moral here - be nice to service employees, everyone is happier and you always get more from being nice than being rude. Just my two cents.

This thread reminds me of something... But it must have been at least 6 years ago. I was on a mom and daughter only long weekend, staying offsite as usual. I valet parked my car at the GF, as I think this is the most gorgeous hotel Ive ever seen. I tipped the valet $2, and they told me not to worry about hurrying back, that my car was in good hands. We were there for breakfast, before a day in MK. When we went to wait for the monorail, DD asked me if we could wait for a turn to sit in front with the driver. I agreed, and we asked to ride i9n front. The next 2 cars that came had people in the drivers car. The third one didnt, and as we were getting ready to get on, someone behind me commented that they wanted the front, and that they were guests of the resort. Long story short, DD got a monorail drivers liscense, and we had a front row seat for the ride to MK, just like we waited for. :thumbsup2

I meant, why were you offering it on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board? I wanted to know if there was something in particular that you experienced that caused you to put it there. Since the Moderator has moved your thread to the Community board, I presume it was just misplaced. Nontheless, it had me confused when it was there.
